Well today has been spent updating this blog and loading up many of the photos.
But yesterday the journey from Cape Town was remarkable, we eventually saw a Baboon, he was strolling across the road behind the car. (Sorry I didn't manage to get a picture).
But we travelled along the N2 through Somerset West, out of the Cape Town region, over the mountains into the Hottentot region, which has a lot of fruit farms, the land looks diferent here, less forests more open farmland, orchards and vineyards.
The road is relatively straight apart from when we have to pass through the hills.
We have driven through pasture land as well with lots of sheep and cattle, and as we were approaching Swellendam we started to see the odd Ostrich.
We had to leave the N2 at Mossel Bay, where there was a large Petrol refinery station, and as it was getting dark, that was lit up brightly.
but we soon entered the hills and mountains where there were no street lamps at all, and the stars are incredibly bright, it seems like there are milllions more stars than at home. unfortunately I couldn't recognise any of the constellations, but then they are different to the stars in Europe.
We eventually arrives at Berluda Lodge where we met up with the rest of the UK contingent for the wedding.
The meal was stunning, with local dishes like Bobotie (minced lamb stew / curry) and Ostrich meat stew (very meaty).
It is incredibly cold out here in the bush region (Karoo) at night, we were all sitting closely round the fire last night.
Most people have gone to visit the Cango Caves, (I am not a cave person so am enjoying a really good cup of coffee, warm garden and updating you all).
Wedding stuff to follow.
