Cape Point is Fantastic, we drove down the East side of the Cape, until we came to the national park, we kept seeing lots of signs warning us about the Baboons, there are a type of Baboon here called the Chacma Baboon, which roam wild all over the cape and they are often attracted to picnics wanting food, but they can often be aggressive, well Helen and I kept looking but we never saw any, (Dad was driving so looking at the road !!).
When we got to the Cape of Good Hope National Park, all the trees disappeared and it was just Fymbos Veld (we would call it heathland). after a long drive through the veld we saw some big birds too far away to decide if these were emus or ostriches.
Eventually we came to the base of the mount with the light house on and parked up. But we were running out of time because we needed to get on the road to start our journey to Oudtshoorn (a 6 hour drive away). so we didn't walk all the way to the point but caught the furnicular railway.
Saw a funny little black lizard on the wall. and a beautiful little beach and cove, the ideal place for a summer holiday. The weather was rather warm today but last night was quite chilly.
