Unfortunately our one week stay in Palau Lankgawi, Malaysia was uneventful due to Josh being stung by a jelly fish on our arrival day. Never the less we enjoyed what we could on the beach without entering the sea. We loved the Malaysian spread of food, spicy and delicious curries, rotis and briyani, yum. We hired a car one day and drove around the island which was fun. We visited the other beaches and enjoyed the scenery. The weather was good, really hot in fact, we spent most days in the hotel swimming pool as the jelly fish kept us out the sea. Once our week was up we were due to go back to Thailand of which we had 15 days (visa) to enjoy one of our best spots in all - Koh Tao, we we began our holiday and thought it would be the ideal spot to end it.
We caught a few buses back to Surritani from where we got the ferry to Koh Tao, two days of travelling but it was worth it. We found an awesome spot on the east where we were the only guests in 10 days besides for another group who stayed a night and a german guy. So the place was ours, we stayed in a cosy bungalow with a magnificent view of the Phunong bay and walked, hiked to the beaches. We were really looked after by the Thai family and of course they loved Josh and went out their way to make us very welcome. Their meals were outstanding and really tasty.
We had 10 days to enjoy the beach of which we thoroughly did. We went back to our first beach, Mae Haad where we snorkelled at the ship wreck, managed to take photos this time. Where we were staying the bay was excellent for snorkelling as well, the visibility was much clearer as well. We hired a quad bike to do our favourite adventure trip to Mango bay in the North and were sad to find that they started concreting the road, we enjoyed the ride anyway and had a good day snorkelling. A bay just around the corner from us was also a beautiful beach, we had to hike around the headland to get there. We took another walk to Sai Nuang which was only accessible by foot or boat, this was a gorgeous piece of beach really tropical. A highlight too was snorkelling with reef sharks in shark bay, it's amazing to have these rather big creatures swimming peacefully beneath you, really exhillerating.
We had a really enjoyable stay in Koh Tao and was a perfect spot to end our holiday. We had an incredible, amazing and memorable holiday which I'm sure will remain with each of us forever. We were very sad to end our holiday but happy to return after so long to family and friends, thanks everyone for keeping in touch with our travel news, look forward to seeing everyone soon, and to all the friends we met on our travels we wish you all the best for the rest of your holiday and if you are already home we hope to stay in touch, love Tyron, Ros and Josh
