The guy downstairs failed to wake me up again.I actually left before he even knocked on the door. When I went to get a ticket they wanted to charge me 30 Euros or about $50 for a ticket because it was an express train.I checked to see if there were any other possibilities. There was one train that left at 9:15 and arrived at 3:00, which would give me about 2.75 hours to get my passport and get back to the station.Normally that would give me plenty of time, that is if the train ran on schedule.Well about 2 hours into the journey one of the engines broke down and we traveled at about 15 mph for an hour or so and stopped for 30 min to changed engines.Time was running short and the train arrived about 1:15 late.I ran off the train and tried to get a taxi.I figured that would be easy enough.Well, again I was wrong.I told a taxi driver standing outside I needed a ride and he said where?I guess I was saying the road name wrong and he couldn't understand me.At the same time I was talking to him he was loading other couple's luggage in his taxi.He then said oh Tsimiski and would not give me a ride because the other passengers were loaded up.By that time the other taxi were full and I was forced to walk halfway across town.Time was of the essence now and I walked faster than I have ever before.I arrived around 4:30 and went upstairs after some questions by the security and presenting the proper ID, one of the ladies who I had helped me days before brought my passport up.I was so happy and frankly stunned.I thanked her for her help and left in a hurry.I made a call to inform Dale that I would arrive at 11:45 that night and then left quickly to get to the train.I arrived at the station with 45 min before the train departed and decided to get the tickets first then buy a large dinner with the left over Euros. That was not to be however, because Thessaloniki has power problems. The power went out 3 times and killing the computer system that had no power backup. In addition to this a Bulgarian lady cut in front of line, which is actually common in Greece from my experience, and I had enough.I told her she needed to apologize and her excuse was that she was headed to Sofia, and I told her the rest of the line was also. After some arguing she left to board the train and the power went out again!I was able to get a ticket and catch the train.I ate the rest of these gingerbread rolls that I had picked up the day before in Olympia. The train ride was a relaxing and comforting to know I would get to rest and take it easy for a while.
