Wow what 12 hours of sleep will do when you have major jet lag!We woke up at about 6 this morning and started the day right with a free breakfast and coffee. After getting our bearings we decided to go out and explore. Our first stop was the hostel we booked earlier in the morning. This was also centrally located and allowed us to hop on over to the sights of Sofia. As we walked we were able to pick up little treats and bottled water. Most water is .75 lev which is about 50 cents, which is much cheaper than the $2.00 we are used to paying. We were able to see the Parliament, Andrew Nevski Church, Sofia University and other landmarks.Everyone was very friendly again and helpful when we got lost, even the guards at the Ministry of Justice where nice. They didn't take down the old museum signs and we decided to go inside and check it out.Well apparently they moved the museum and forgot to tell us.We soon realized we were in the wrong place when 12 armed guards confronted us.Luckily they spoke English.Everyone is very thin and we suspect this is because of 2 things. One, they walk everywhere and two the food isn't fried and generally good for you, even though a pizzeria is on every street corner. We literally almost walked around the whole city before 12:00.It seemed easier to get around here than in London, maybe because it wasn't 3 in the morning. We had a nice lunch consisting of musaka and a green salad and Sprite. This cost 4.18 lev which is roughly 3 dollars, again another good deal.We met our coworker Angela and she showed us around the office, although no one was there, they were all in Macedonia on a conference.Guess what else showed up?Ours bags!We promptly took our stuff back to the hostel and took showers. It had also started to rain so we relaxed at the hostel for the rest of the day before we met Angela, her husband Ivan, and Ivan Dimitrov's sister Iliyana. We had Turkish lamb kabobs that were delightful.Blaine also tried "buttermilk", which is really just watered down yogurt that is passed off as a drink, it wasn't so great. After dinner we went down the street to a nice restaurant/bar for after dinner drinks of coffee and beer.Tomorrow we leave for Bucharest at 7:30pm on a night train.
