Hello again, were in Singapore now for a couple of days. The country seems nice and clean, buses leave bang on the minute, every minute and passengers don't hold the bus up as they all have swipe cards like top - up cards which takes credit off their card depending on the distance they travel. Puts our country to shame really and shows how dumb the people that run our country are. We met two people from South Africa on our second day and they said their own country was just as bad so that gave us a bit of relief.
As soon as we arrived at the hostel, we were shown our bunk beds in the 14 bed dorm and was dreading the nights sleep ahead of us but after a few pints of tiger beer things turned out to be ok. After checking our rooms we read a few books that told you what to see and visit in Singapore and came across half a page which said 'Sleezy Singapore'. It carried on to tell us that the worst place to go was an area called 'Geylang' and a specific road called 'Joo Chiat Road'. Now i'm not going to take any guesses on where you think we were staying because it seems pretty obvious but for those slow ones out there who haven't realised yet, we were on 'Joo Chiat Road', bang in the middle of the red - light district so we ended up just staying in the hostel most of the time with the other travellers watching quality dvds such as Borat and Jackass the movie 2.
On the second nigh we went to the night - safari which turned out to be really good. We saw Lions, Giraffes, Leopards, Elephants, Zebras and Hyeenas. It was unbelievable as we sat half a meter away from the leopards while they were cleaning themselves and sleeping behind a fence. We didn't get any pics as it was dark and we wasn't allowed to use the flash on the cameras as it scared the animals. (Had a few problems with the computers over the last few days thats why there have been no pics added, will sort out once in Oz though.
Thats all I got for now, will update in the land of OZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Bye
