Hello everyone. Just thought I'd let you know what I've been up to. Work is going along quite well. Getting on real well with the locals, and creating some really great friendships as well. On Saturday night I went out with a group of friends to Tavistock to go to the bar. The night ended up being a really fun random night.
We went to this bar called Jackie Chans. It was a theme night. All the girls were supposed to dress up as school girls. Only problem is some of the guys decided to do so as well. They even went as far as wearing thongs, Which wasn't a pretty site.
The night went as usual bar nights go. Some of the funny things happened after the bar. As we were walking to Rebecca's mothers car. Jimmy and I had the need to go to the washroom. We found what seemed to be a nice set of bushes, only to find out after that the bushes just happened to be on the lawn of the local police headquarters. Good thing the cops don't work late or we'd been thrown in jail for sure.
As we got back to the pub we cracked open a bottle of rum and didn't get up until it was gone. Jimmy and I had gotten off work late so we had to catch up to the girls. When the bottle was finally done I volunteered to walk Tracy home. Tracy is the cleaner at the pub and a really nice lady to talk to. She is 28 years old has three kids and has been married for the past 7 years. And according to Jimmy they have been 7 happy years, because he once asked her if she had a happy marriage when he tried to pick her up one night.
So I start walking her home. The road is pitch black and we didn't have a flash light. You don't get any light pollution so it really is pitch black when I say it. As we were walking I stepped off the road(it's a raised road) and in order to correct my balance leaned the other way. I may have leaned a little too far because I noticed I was starting to fall. However I had the brains to do a quick roll as I hit the ground and the momentum from the roll got me upright again and I didn't miss a stride. Tracy was too drunk to notice so I came out of it in not bad shape at all. I was actually rather impressed that in my state I could have pulled off such an acrobatic maneuver.
Today I woke up and had to work at 12. I actually felt pretty good. Good thing Jimmy is the cook though. Apparently he was sweating pure rum according to Steve our boss.
On a side note I'm finding that working in a bar is pretty good. I got two free golf shirts the other day. a Stella shirt and a Beck's. Should get a nice one for St. Patrick's day too when Guinness sends their St. Paddy's day pub kit.
Next stop Dublin. I'll keep you all informed.
