Hello again, just thought I'd get a quick word in about English TV. It's actually pretty good for the most part. My day usually consists of getting up or off work and watching a show called The Royal Today. It's a mix between General Hospital and Grey's Anatomy. It's a bit of a sneaky show. It doesn't really look like a soap opera, but apparently it is. I was talking the other day about watching it and got made fun of. That's when I pulled out the Canadian card and said thats just what we do back home.
Another show I watch is called Rosemary and Thyme. It's about two old chicks who design gardens for a living, but wherever they go someone always dies, and whilst designing a top notch garden solve the crime and almost get killed in every episode. If I was them I'd stop designing gardens.
I have to say the UK version of cops is quite comical. It's like they just start filming and use whatever they've got. They usually have two or three traffic stops an episode and they're not unusual stops just the normal speeding stops. They write a ticket and the motorist is on his or her way. They also don't storm doors like they do back home. They give a polite knock and then come in. The person always seems like it's going to be a fun visit from the cops. It quickly goes downhill and in the end they're always telling the cops to f*** off, but not before they have some tea and cookies.
Last but not least is my favourite show. Golden Balls. The premise of the game is quite simple really. There are golden balls with sums of pounds in them. Some of the balls however are "killer" balls and take a digit off the end of the total sum in the final round. The goal is to try to get to the last round with the least amount of killers. The game is played with four players and as each round goes so does one of the contestants. They game usually goes something like this. You show two of your golden balls to the group. Keep the other two balls to yourself and tell the group what they are. Then the group talks for about five minutes why their balls are better then yours and they vote a person out.
The final round is probably the best. Once they figure out what the sum is they get a split and steal ball. They need to choose one of the balls. If they both choose the split ball they split the money, if one chooses the split and the other steal the person who chose steal gets all the money. Both contestants look each other in the eyes and ten times over declare they will chose split. In the end one always chooses steal and gets it all. On the other hand sometimes they both choose steal and get nothing.
