/09/07 Another night bus ride for approx 12 hours and we arrive at Surranthani at approx 6am and await our boat. Another 3 and half hours and we arrive at Koh Samui with high expectations. The first bit of sand and sea we'd seen in a long time. Bill resort was our resort and our first bungalow. Nice pool and located next to the beach would of been the perfect setting for a romantic holiday but i'm stuck with Jonny. Ah well. Spent the rest of the day chilling on the beach before heading out to watch the mighty spurs lose again to the Arsenal scum. A dissapointing evening.
/09/07 - Not a very exciting day spent the day by the pool sitting in the jacuzzi in the rain. Had some nice food (barracuda and shark) for tea and got an early night in preparation for our quad bike tour of the jungle the next day.
/09/07 - Quad biking was pretty cool with some sketchy down hill sections. Saw a Buddha, some rubber planation and a coconut plantation were they offered us some local weed (which didn't seem wise to have whilst riding quad bikes).
/09/07 - Did a spot of fishing today, shock Jonny caught a fish but I may add much like in Penang a few years ago it was the smallest fish I have ever seen. Later we hired some scooters. Apparently no need for a license and it was cheap as chips at 200 baht or 3 pound. Survived the pot holes and sand on the roads not knowing a much bigger challange would lie ahead tomorrow for the novice scooter riders.
/09/07 - Some sightseeing today. Took the scooters to a view point which was rubbish, then on to a waterfall. It was actually quite nice to see but the next stop was the highlight of the day for me. The Grandfather and Grandmother rocks. Something you have to go and see what everyone is talking about. I'm sure you can guess what they looked like and they are pretty accurate if you look at the pictures. After that we thought we'd go and check the overlapping rock. What an adventure that was. I think your supposed to walk up the side of the mountain not take the scooters like we did. It could of easily ended in tears and large bill to repair the bikes with the rediculously steep gravel paths but we survived unscaved. On to Koh Tao tomorrow for some scuba diving.
In summary Koh Sumui would have been a lot better in peak season and if the weather was better and also if we weren't in the couples part of the island.
