crap!
i cant belive i havent written in this for so long.
its gonna be impossible to catch up with everything?? ill have to skip through a fair bit.
its all still going realy good, i think my lasy entry was from veitnam?? seems like ages ago. went from veitnam on a bus ride from hell which lasted about 23 hours and got sent down a misty road in the middle of nowhere at about 5am, couldnt see anything and we wernt on a touristy bus, luckily i was with a friend though. thought the bus was just gonna take off down the road and nick all our stuff! turned out to just be the border though, so we went in to show our pass ports and fill in forms and whatever, and in my half asleep state, this mentally hanicapped bloke about 30, who someone had obviously decided to take travelling with them came and held my hand!scared the s*** out of me at first, but when he started to dribble i realised he was abit special and we kind of made friends. i only needed one hand to write with anyway. after that we got sent off down another misty jungle road (this is going into laos by the way) where nobody else seemed to be walking and our bus shot past us so we definitly thought theyd nicked our stuff this time, but it seemed the driver just fancied makin us walk in the misty rain abit as hed parked just further up. phew. the photos we took of this are v.funny, particularly of me lookin quite botherd at 5am. but alas the computers s*** themselves if i try to upload any morte pics and it costs me a fortune.
so now im in Laos! its a truly happy fun little country. all the people are super chilled out and laughing alot, had a proper sauna and massage thing just about allday for about a fiver. some little gay laos man was in the sauna when i went in and on his way out he pinched my nipple and then ran away giggling, didnt realy know what to do so i just sat there with my mouth open, i was abit worried about the kind of sauna id gone into after that but it turned out to be normal. the massage didnt have a "happy ending" option or anything........b*****.
then i got pissed with a group of mates and completely forgot where i was staying, so stumbled around veintien till about 6.30am untill i was freezing my nuts off, saw a load of buddhist monks doing some strange chanting and picking up offerings from the sides of the roads that people put out for them which was great!bet not many people see that coz there asleep. got some fotos but there abit blurry for some reason, then a bunch of sray dogs tried to bite me and i ran round the corner and there was my guesthouse! wooo hoo!
next stop in laos was vang veing. ha ha ha! this is the funniest little happy bubble town youve ever seen. rammed full of backpackers, lots and lots of lounging on cushions, cheap food on tap, freinds and simpsons on tvs in chillout places 24/7,.............. and tubing. for this you get gived a massive tractor tyre inner tube, taken up river, and then you float down the river past amazing scenery and cliffs and then there are these bars on the river side that throw ropes out to you. so you stop at every bar and have a beer or two, but these arnt just any normal bars, they have these massive zip lines and rope swing that fling you into the river! not just any rope swings either, theyve constructed these massive things and you have to climb onto a realy high platform just to reach the handle (which is scary enough) and then you swing and it catapults you literally 20 feet in the air. its so much fun but realy hurts if you land wrong. however the beer helps.
ok so after that it was loang prabang in the north, where 4of us couldnt find anywhere to stay so we ended up sleeping on this big fat laos womans porch with her and a random french bloke.very cosy.
then took a 2day long boat ride from the top of laos through wicked countryside and into the top of thailand again. went to chang mai which i reckon i wouldve loved, unfortunatly i got the s***s and only had one day where i managed to eat 3 imodiums and bung myself up to go see sum elephnta and villages and have a go on a cross bow and do sum bamboo rafting down a river. was a busy day!
then it was reluctantly time to leave and go back to bangkok to meet with Nik a good friend from travellin in india. shed just arrived in thailand as shed stayed in india for longer, and we both went down to Ko tao first then Ko Phangyan or however you spell it for the full moon party. stayed at a more desrted and beautiful beach in the north of the island which was awsom, all white sands and hammocks, before going down to hat rin for the big one.
it was fantastic! about 8000 people all having a massive party on the beach! everyones there for a good time, the atmospheres briliant and we all danced like idiots till about 10am the next morning. enuf said.
so was good bye to Nik and off to a place called Krabbi, or more specifically ton sai beach. id read in my book that there was sum good rock climbing, specially for begginners and they ran courses. so i thought id have a go. got there and met an aussie bird and a french bloke, but my cash card stopped working just as i was about to do a course. so with my very last bits of money in my pocket i bought a ticket to kuala lumpur where a sweedish friend of mine was who could help me out with some money. 10 hours on a bus, got there, and my card started to work again!
i was gutted though that id missed out on the climbing so we decided to go back there! unfortunately it was chineases new year which there all mad about, so my easy 10 hour bus ride was a 2 day full on mission to get out of the country! so decided to do a morer scenic route on the way back thru malaysia. got back to ton sai and its the most awsome little spot. total paradise scenery, surrounded by massive lime stone cliffs an no roads to it at all, you have to get long tailed botas across so it still feels like your on an island! to give you some idea, theres a white sandy beach, then theres some bamboo built chill out bars and places to eat, all totaly kitted out with cusions and hammocks and relaxing music, full of either super fit looking rock climbers, hippies, and rastas! loved it.
you all live in small bamboo built bungalows set back in the jungle a little bit, and the further into the jungle you go the the cheaper it is!
one night some little thai rasta man was handing out flyers for his bar which were written on big leaves from some jungle tree and it said it was bob marleys birthday that day so to celebrate if you went along to his bar for every bucket of cocktails you bought you got a free spliff! just handing them straight over from the bar! we all sat on mats on the sand next to the beach with some fire torches stuck in the sand all sharing out bucket of cocktail and chilling out with all the other travellers. (i obviously didnt smoke a single bit if your reading this mum.) then they got one of those big fire balloons made of tissue paper and lit it at the bottom with a message to bob marley from everyone at the chillout bar, we miss you! and it floated off in front of us, everyopne sat there all stoned watching it floating, all the hippies going, wow man, thats the coolest thing ive ever seen! im going back there as soon as possible!
did loads of rock climbing too, so now i know enough to be able to go climbing off with a friend on our own! its awsome. bought myself a harness and everything.
now this place langavee is acytually malaysia not thailand, spent my birthday on probably the most perfect beach ive ever seen, was huge and white and palms everywhere. i know i say that about every place but this was realy amazing. its a full on muslim country here, so there a very different atmosphere compared to the total freedom of thialand. no drinking and stuff, or whotever there is its very expensive. the people dont seem quite as open, but dont have a problem with coming staight out with what they think! its realy funny, if they see someone whos abit chubby walking down the street and they talk to them, they wont see anything wrong in asking them why there so fat! or saying, excuse me, your bellies hanging out. its great!........ but im glad im not fat.
so singapoure next after kuala lumpur again
