We woke up at 5 am today ready for our journey to Agra. The city that houses the famous Taj Mahal.
The streets are quiet and empty which is a far different scene then the night before where lights lit up the streets, crowds of people bought items and sold items, moving out of the way of tooting cars and bikes slowly trying to get through the street.
The empty streets still show the aftermath however, with rubbish lining the footpath and stray dogs looking for a meal. We make our way to the cities major rail hub where people come and go from cities all over India.
The stations are full and it's only 6:30am. There are people everywhere. Some carrying heavy bags on their heads of what seems like food or sellable goods, some with their families, and others unfortunate enough to be sleeping on the platforms.
Breakfast is looking like its having to consist of lays, cookies and Pepsi as the water sold on the platform is not mineral. As amber says 'it's the breakfast of champions'. All part of such an exciting experience.
The train pulls up and I feel like I've gone back in time. Its quite an old train with stained windows from excessive commutes over the years. People run to the doors as of they have no time to embark although the train sits here for 20 minutes and all seats are assigned. It must be a habit from bring a part of such an overpopulated city.
We commence our journey to Agra. Men walk through the carriages selling omlettes, tomato soup and tea. Out the window I see shells of unfinished buildings, piles of debris and rubbish. But as we travel further I start to see more greenery and paddocks and the round red sun through the smoggy sky.
