HELLO FROM AIRLIE BEACH!
Ok..so the last time i wrote we had spent a weekend in Brisbane and we were heading to Noosa!
So..we arrived in Noosa on the monday afternoon and we got picked up by the Beeson Family! We were very fortunate enough to stay with the Beeson's who we knew from back home. They had immigrated out here in January 2009 and the two boy's used to go to Holland Park Primary School! It was so lovely to see them all and stay in their lovely house and we even had a BBQ on the first night which was great. On tuesday they took the boy's out of school and we all went down to Noosa beach and walked through Noosa's National Park which was brilliant! It was such a lovely day and we got some great pics! That night we all went down to the Noosa river for a picnic and watched the sun set whilst the boy's did some fishing! The following day me and darren went to Australia Zoo which is well-known and famous by the late Steve Irwin (crocodile hunter)! We had a brilliant day there and i finally got to hold a koala and we both held a small crocodile! FUN! We then borrowed Dean and Caroline's bike's on thursday and went out exploring the town, cycling around Noosa Heads and the Junction. It was then our last night with the Beeson's before we said our goodbye's on friday morning! We had a lovely time in Noosa and it really is as pretty as everyone say's!
On friday morning we then caught the Greyhound up to Hervey Bay which was only 3hrs and arrived there midday. We then checked into our hostel before venturing out to book up our Fraser Island trip! We managed to book one leaving the following day which was great! We went with Fraser Island Explorer Tours which everyone had recommended and they had won numerous awards so was hoping it was going to be pretty good! We then got picked up at 7.30am on the saturday morning where we took the ferry over to Fraser Island and our tour began. We were really lucky as each tour takes up to 40 guests, but there was only 13 of us which was really nice! We were taken around the Island in our own 4WD coach by a private guide who had lived on Fraser Island for year's and had worked for the company for a long time so we were in good hands! The first day involved quite a bit of walking going through the rainforests and visting the famous Lake Mckenzie and Lake Wabby! It was insane as Fraser Island is the largest sand island in the world and yet there were these fresh-water lakes which were so clear, yet you were standing on sand and there were trees growing from the water! We then checked into our rooms at Eurong Beach resort late afternoon before having an all-you-can-eat buffet! We already had one at lunchtime so it was time for round two! ha! It was really nice food and even catered for the veggie (me)! The second day we visited the Maheno Shipwreck, the Champagne Pools, Indian head and the sandblows which was brilliant, some amazing views! We even saw a Dingo! Had a morning break with muffins and juice on the beach followed by a picnic at lunchtime, so so nice! After chilling at Eli Creek during the afternoon we then took the ferry back to Hervey Bay at 5pm! A brilliant trip and would thoroughly recommend it!
We then unfortunately had a 12hr trip on the Greyhound, leaving at 9pm sunday night and we arrived at Airlie beach this morning at 9.30am! A very long one! We then went for breakfast before booking up some trips! We have an all-day Whitsunday boat trip tomorrow visiting Whitehaven beach etc and snorkling! We then leave wednesday morning to travel up to Townsville. We will then be catching the ferry over to Magnetic Island where we have two nights booked at the Bungalow Bay Koala village! Plan to do some kayaking and rent out a mini moke car to travel around in, so excited! After two nights there we will be catching the ferry back and leaving to travel up to Mission Beach where darren has a skydive booked, ha! He really wants to do one as i loved doing mine in NZ and he gets to land right on the beach so he is pretty excited! After that we then leave for Cairns where we will be doing our Great Barrier reef trip! Will fill you in nearer the time and will put all the photos on the blog a.s.a.p! xxxxxx
