It started with a wedding
Today was the day we decided that we were going to walk over Brooklyn Bridge, but frst we had to get to Zara 5th Ave to get what Chrissie couldn't get the day before. that accomplished we then moved onto H&M, once finished there we headed back to the hotel to drop our parcels off.
Then it was onto the subway to get the train to Brooklyn, now this seemed so easy but somehow we just couldn't work it out, got on one train and wasn't too happy with that so got off at the next station and finally found a ticket lady who confused us even more, so we got back on the train and thankfully a nice man sitting next to us helped us, we were only one station stop away from the connecting train we needed, finally got off at the right stop and then went looking for something to eat, that done we retraced our steps and got onto the walkway to the bridge. this was a fabulous experience and although it was still a cloudy day the views were amazing and when you truly stop and look at the bridge it is unbelievable to know that this was built over 130 years ago and without the technology and machinary that is available today, it took us about 50 minutes to walk it and this was with stopping and reading some of the landmarks and taking photos, at the moment renovations are being done but this by no means take anything away from the bridge, and while on the bridge you can see the Statue of Liberty, although on this day not very clearly. back onto the subway and this time we had no trouble,
Brooklyn Bridge was a fabulous experience and even at the end of it, our feet were killing us, I would never have missed it for anything.
Later that night we had a reservation (11.30pm) at a restaurant called "La Esquina" and I know you are saying 11.30pm why would you? but it is so hard to get into, that we had to get Gene and Kerryn to book it for us before they left New York and that has to be done at least 3 weeks in advance, anyway finally get there, and you have to go down the stairs and then through the kitchen to get to the cellar and boy was it rockin' . the food is spanish styled and the whole atmosphere was incredibly lively, food was great and the cocktails deadly, we eventualy left around 1.15am and people were still arriving
