Although I had travelled by boat and bus to Bangkok before, this journey was luxury compared to my previous trip. This time I was travelling to Bangkok with the locals and mum through a local Thai company. We were allocated seats on a bus which took us to the port in Samui, then boarded a ferry which took around 1 hour and a half to get to the mainland. From there we hopped back onto the same bus, and were provided with tea, coffee and buns. Overall the journey took 10 hours but we were able to see the countryside along the way and even stopped at two roadside restaurants, which war an experience to say the least. We finally arrived in Bangkok and caught a taxi to Khao San road, off loaded our bags in hotel that had a rooftop pool (quite a find for pennies) and out we stepped into the hustle and bustle of Bangkok. The smells surrounded me, street food and market stalls lined the streets and the excitement rushed through my body just like it did the very first time I came here. There's something about Bangkok; you either love it or hate it. I love it. It's not a holiday as such but it's an experience. It's a challenge sometimes not to be conned, but a smile goes a long way as well as trying to speak some of their language. We ate at a lively restaurant which was perfect for people watching and then continued to spend our left over bhart in the markets. The following morning we prepared for our flight to Siem Reap. We had time for breakfast, a massage, a cheeky wax and some more shopping.
