We have arrived both shattered and ready for bed!
We arrived at 8PM last night, it was pitch black and extremely humid!
Based on this and the fact we looked so vulnerable with our backpacks, we decided to jump in a taxi to our hotel!
We approached a taxi driver at the rank, with our address in hand...He looked at us blank faced for roughly three minutes, in partial English he proceeded to inform us that he didn't know where this was. We were in the unknown not knowing ourself, seconds later he shock his head and told us to jump in! Dan and I looked at each other, with worried expressions, but non the less put our bags in the taxi and made our selfs comfortable!
The taxi took thirty five minutes and cost a total of 450 BAHT = £9, we gave him 500 BAHT = £10, and told him to keep the change. His face was priceless, that extra pound would have gone a long way for his family. If only taxis were so cheap in England!
The porter carried our backpacks in unbeknown to me and for a split second my heart sank as the taxi driver drove away!
On arriving at the reception, the young Thai girl began to apologise profusely, I was concerned that our booking had not worked, until she started to explain that our allocated room had a double bed and that was all they had left! Dan and I looked at each other with smiles as we recognised the difference in cultures!
We settled into our 5 star room, which cost £35 per night, took our malaria tablets and went to sleep.
