Day 11 and we have a very long drive (after quite a lot of wine last night...) We say goodbye to Peter and Carcassonne and drive via route national (rather than the toll roads) to Sete for moules-frites in the beautiful port.
Still with 300km to go we hit the toll roads. We were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful countryside and mountains on our way to the Cote D'Azur (which was much better than the traffic jam we were sat in on the RN...) Several hours later, having broken the 2000km mark for our trip, we arrived at Le Hameau in St Paul de Vence.
This place is simply beautiful. High up on the hill just outside St Paul, the hotel overlooks the Cote D'Azur below with an amazing view from the pool and the sun deck above! Check out our photos to see what I mean.... Thank you to Kate, David & Frances and Jane & Tony :)
After a quick change (Cote D'Azur traffic held us up!) we walked into the cobbled village of St Paul for our dinner at Le Saint Paul hotel. Sat on the terrace we enjoyed a glass of champagne before three courses of beautifully presented food. It was all disgustingly romantic, I'm afraid to say... Thank you to Peter for a lovely honeymoon treat!
Tomorrow will definitely have to involve a nice long swim!
