After spending two nights in the natiously touristy Khao San area of Bangkok we were pleased to head north to Chang Mai. The intensity of all the haggling is a bit in your face but nothing like a sitting back and with a Change Beer to do a bit of people watching.

Caught the overnight train to Chiang Mai were we had cute little double seater which turned into a bunk bed. We were spoilt for laughs with a amusing "Lady Boy" as our waitress. She played up her role and didint mind making a number of suggestive jokes esspecially to a group of english guys which I am sure she took a liking to.

Have done the night makets and nearly finished a book so we are nearly offically in relax mode. It would seem the tourisms numbers a really down with so many stalls and resturants and no one to fill them. For one thing it does save us dodging the other tourist folk down the street.

Off to do you a two day trek tomorrow staying overnight in a Karen hill tribe community. Should be fun. Stay warm while we stay cool
