Well time is flying by as we cruse from South East Asia into China.
I will keep it short but we loved Laos....as chillled out version of Vietnam.
We entered Loas on a two day slow boat on the Mekong. A specky trip with loads of photo opportunities. This eventually landed us in Laung Prabang, Loas a world heritage town known for it influence from the French occupation in the 18th Century. After a few days of r and r with Beer Lao and the $2 marinated fish on a stick we headed to Vang Veng. A touristy town better know for it tubing experience down the river where we floted from one bar to another drink and swinging out form their makeshift swings which would drop from 10m into the river....GREAT FUN. (check out the video). Hiring Motorbikes to get around and get off the beaten track has been great.
Vientiane the capital of Laos will be remembered for a number of things inc bed bugs; noting the devestation caused by 80 million unexploded UXO can do to a county http://www.copelaos.org/ ; and the opportunity to catch up with mel old school buddy who is working in Laos for the prevention of people trafficing.
Hanoi, Vietnam....is a symphony of honking horns....cars and motorbike rule!!!!!
Halong Bay a awesome highlight. Huge limestome cliffs droping into the ocean while we would chug through them on our luxurious "junk" style boat. It was stinky hot 37C and humity has been around 50%. It amazing that your shirt can look so wet in just 10 mins of siting still. Did some great treks.
We are now in China and experiencing a number of contrasts to SE Asia. Enjoying being movie stars with all the stares and photos being taken of us....I must say I am lucky to have such a beatiful blonde blue eyed sweety pie.
We are in Dali and will try to keep you updated.
