We made it to Amsterdam. Beautiful! It's funny to see how all the buildings lean in strange directions. The flower district is amazing. We are sitting in a little street cafe. The boys are eating crepes and I'm sipping a latte. We stopped at a cheese shop. We tried lots of samples and walked out with a couple of rinds. Don't ask for samples when we get home. I doubt they will make it!
We took a long nap and headed back out. It was crazy busy I guess because it was a saturday night- or maybe it's always this way. I'm not sure. We found an Italian cafe. There seems to be a celtics soccer game that is about to take place here. The Irish are dressed in their green and white stripes being very loud. Feels like a big college football game atmosphere. It feels a bit like new Orleans only rather than just one area you go from one street to the next with just cafe after cafe.
The walk home was interesting I saw a homeless woman try and grad this guys slice of pizza. He actually had to wrestle her a bit for it. It was so funny. Now you have the impression that there is a lot of vagrants running around here. Not so. But the one I saw was feisty
The kids were racing home so they missed a PG window display with red lights in the window.
Today we are taking a bike tour and heading back to Brussels. More later. (there is very spotty wifi so this blog only updates when it's connected to the Internet.)
the bike tour was so fun. There are probably 300 bikes for every car in this city. Trey wanted to ride bikes. That has been all we have been hearing about.. And now we can finally check that off his list. We used "yellow bike" tours. Our guide was really nice. We rode for 3 hours. We got to tour so many areas of the city and learn a lot about the city. Amsterdam has over 1200 canals. The streets are narrow and there were so many people that it was nerve racking sometimes. We really loved it. We are getting ready to take a train back to Brussels. Great day! Weather was perfect!
