Hello!
Not long since our last blog, but we thought we would update you on the last few days of our travels. We left Napier on Tuesday morning and a short Magic Bus ride later we arrived in Taupo- a small town next to the biggest lake in New Zealand. It's bloody hot here and we spent most of yesterday reading and having a leisurely lunch next to the lake. We met some friends in the evening and had a BBQ at our hostel-it was afeast with chicken, sausages and burgers and we are all feeling ok today so Ben was successful in not poisoning us. After our BBQ we went to bar called 'Holy Cow' where drinks were very cheap from 11pm- but they only stayed cheap until the first person went to the loo! It was called the 'Bladder Burster' - completely random and a bit weird with a bar full of people looking more uncomfortable by the minute. It lasted over an hour and a half and we were all quite pleased when a drunken young man stumbled into the toilets.
BEN--
Today I did a Bungy jump. It was 47M high so no tthe highest in NZ but pretty scary when you are up there! I was a little nervous but after shelling out $100 there was no way I was going to wimp out. The bridge itself was above a river in the middle of a gorge so when I jumped it was set up so that as I was at the peak of the spring I was dipped in the river. I nearly drowned and was a little suprised when I opened my eyes to see that I had sprung right back up to about 10 M below where I had originally jumped from. It was well worth the money though and I was buzzing my head off. The video is on facebook those of you who have access, the rest will have to wait until I get back and see the DVD...
Sarah---
We are off on the Magic Bus again in the morning to Rotorua where we will hopefully see some natural hot springs.
