The night before we had arranged with the kiwis to follow them and drive to Barcelona. It was a long drive, nearly six hours long, but it seemed to go faster when we had them to follow. We found a campsite about 12km from Barcelona, but as we got there in the early evening we decided to chill out in the pool for the night and get ready for a big day of sightseeing .
Thenext day we spent 9 hours straight walking around Barcelona, trying to see as many sights as we could because we wanted to move onto France the next day.We started at one of the main squares and headed towards the Olympic stadium, then caught a funicular up to Montjuic, the 'central park' of Barcelona, which had a fortress and gave us some good views of the whole city, showing how massive it was.Far off in the distance you could see the famous La Sagrada Famiglia church designed by Gaudi, which is where we headed to next. After checking out the church we walked around and tried to find some more of Gaudi's work in the city. While we tried to find some more sights, we stumbled across Parc de la Ciutadella (another park) and Las Ramblas, the main street which we were amazed to find it lined with stalls selling small pets like rats, ferrets, birds, turtles, rabbits, squirrels and chinchillas. We found Casa Battlo, an apartment created by Gaudi, then headed towards Guell Park, which was an amazing sigh with so many beautiful mosaic patterns lining the walls and ceilings. It was dark by the time we caught the bus back to the campsite and we were totally exhausted, so we had some dinner, gave each other calf massages and went straight to bed!
The next day we made our way back into France and tried to get as close to Marseille as possible. We spent the whole day on the road and luckily wefound a campsite at about 8pm at night in a place called La Couronne, the reception had just closed but the owner was sitting outside having a chat and was nice enough to still let us stay the night.
