Today was our first day in Germany, and let me just say, it is beautiful here! The day started out with an amazing breakfast at the hotel. We had eggs, bacon, sausage (awesome), two types of potato, many types of bread, and an apple pie. We have all agreed that we should adopt this philosophy on breakfast. Daily. We traveled over to the Neuschwanstein Castle in Fussen. The two hour train ride was beautiful and intermingled with the smell of cows. Seeing the Alps in the distance was quite incredible. Only pictures can partially capture God's handy work; words cannot describe them adequately.
The castle itself was not what we were anticipating. Apparently, King Ludwig II died before finishing the castle, and only one third was complete. Because of this, our two hour ride was for a 35 minute tour. However, I would have done it again just for the scenery and the views at the top. There is a bridge behind the castle from which people can take pictures. I have photographic proof that I did actually venture onto it albeit only about seven feet! We enjoyed the Eurail system and found it quite comfortable. Tomorrow we leave for Lucerne, Switzerland. We're excited, but we wish we could have a few more days here to explore this beautiful country. Maybe next time, Ja!

Martha Were you able to stay in the same hotel both nights in Germany? I hope so, it sounded like a winner!
Vicki Glad to hear you're enjoying Germany! Germany is a very diverse country. Baltic Sea on the north; Alps in the south! Definitely worth a future visit! You're right that they got breakfast right!
