Greeting from Tulum!
it was an eventful morning! i got up early to leave to go to tulum, my ankles by this point are starting to get purple blotches on them and i'm gettin v.concerned even though they dont hurt. i'm imagining some kind of unprecidented tropical disease!!! but i'd read that there is an english speaking doctors in tulum, so i just whacked on some more useless cream i got from the pharmacy here, packed and checked out of Poc na.
while walking to the ferry a storm came in, thunder and lightening etc but on a tropical scale. the thunder was so load it hurt my ears, but v.impressive. the flipflops i was wearing are useless and have no grip at all, so any wet floor, i'm bounbd to land on my arse. i fell over twice on the way to the ferry( locals thought v.amusing) the 2nd time i fell i managed to gash my big toe open on a kerb. my feet are not doing too well in cancun.
a quick repair job on the ferry- (thanks mum for the medical stuff ) and i was sorted ready to go with my purple blotchy feet and big bandage on my toe. not a pretty sight! the bus ride was nice, aircon'd and for the 1st time since being here i wasnt constantly boiling! Tulum is about 2 hours down the coast from cancun, i checked in to a hostel recomended by someone at Poc Na and went in search of the doctors. The doctor was very nice and said it looked like a bad reaction to the sun, like prickly heat or something. he gave me some anti inflamatories as my ankles were so swollen and some even better magic cream.
Just been chilling by the pool, getting up early tomorrow to see the ruins and the beach, then heading down to chetemaul which is on the mexico/belize border. wish i had more time to spend in mexico as everyone i've met so far (locals & travellers) have been really nice, but its far to expensive to stay here much longer.
off to join in a game of table tennis and drink corona mmmmm x
