Monday night (23rd) there was a bunch of irish lads staying at the hostel Lobo in tulum, and it turned into a long night of drinking. we had beers and a water volleyball contest at the hostel then at 1am when we ran out of beer we all got a taxi into the town. came home about 5am ish i think thern had to get up early to go and see the Mayan ruins in Tulum. The ruins were really good, but very busy, just as i got there about 3 coaches of american tourists got off, so it was kinda a race to stay ahead of them. the ruins are set by the beach and pretty impressive.
i then got the bus to Chetemal and had to transfer onto another bus that took us through the immigration at Belize/Mexico border. On the bus i met another bunch of 6 irish lads and a fellow mancunuian - james. my plan was to head to belize city but i wouldnt have gotten in until 9pm and i had heard bad reports about being there at night. so i ended up going with the boys to Corozal, about 10 miles south of chetemal. we stayed in this really cool place. the owner hadnt quite finished it yet(finishing touches etc) but all the basics were there and we were able to stay super cheap, about 3 pounds each!!
the boys taught me a new game called citizen. where depending on where you come in order of winning detrmins your status. i was a bum for about 5 games, but the end i was president 3 times in a row. yay. got up early this moring, to get the ferry over to the Caye islands. Again we seemed to land on out feet and cus we're such a big group - 8, we got a condo on the beach for about 5pounds each a night.
going on a snorkeling tour tomorrow all around the barrier reefs here and swimming with sharks etc. very excited. planning on staying here for 2 nights as its so so nice and very chilled. Everyone is so chatty and nice and the boys are really looking after me. Yay.
