Before our flight to Singapore we had one last night on Ko san road, Bangkok in Thailand for some last minute late night shopping which was good fun!
We had a short but sweet stop over in Singapore before flying to Melbourne for just three days. Although, we somehow managed to fit in quite alot of sightseeing into this time. It was so weird going to our first developed country after so long! All the buildings were all high skyscrapers with huge glass windows and it was sooo clean compared to the rest of Asia! I've never been to such a clean country in my life! There seems to be so many rules in this country..Hellie and I even got told that we could be fined for crossing the road in the wrong place! Whilst we were there, we were missing Asia so we decided to stay in Little India...it was full of so many Indians and all the local places to eat sold all our favourites we had in india...chai, chapattis, chicken curry-it was awesome!
It was also our first time staying in a youth hostel..good preparation for Australia. It was good fun because we got chatting to alot of other backpackers.
While we there we visited the famous Singapore 'merlion' symbol (in the pic) and China town which had a huge Chinese market. In the evening we went to the world famour Raffles hotel. Its famous because Mr Raffles was the dude who designed the famous singapore sling cocktail which we tried and also because it is the only place in Singapore where litter is actually encouraged as people are allowed to throw thier peanut shells on the floor! so when you walk in you hear a crunch and look down to see a load of empty peanut shells! The next day, Hellie and I went over to Sentosa island to the aquarium and dolphin lagoon there. It was fantastic as we got to touch the stingrays, puffer fish, walk underneath lots of sharks and rays and a rare 'sea cow', and see lots of turtles. When we watched the dolphin show, Hellie was lucky enough to be picked to go and touch one! It was awesome, although the aquarium doesn't come close to the feeling I get when scuba diving :).
I was unsure of what I would think of Singapore but I actually really liked it and thought it was a cool city but think three days was enough to see it.
