Happy Cinco de Mayo everyone!! I know it has been awhile since I have posted anything, but life has been super busy here in all aspects! I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter! We just had our second study break! The majority of our Eau Claire group traveled to New Zealand, but me and 2 other girls are going to go there on the third study break which is the end of this month (May 21st-27th)! It was too expensive for us to travel during the holiday! The break was pretty relaxing, but we got to see and do things in Perth that we hadn't yet the chance to do! The weather wasn't all that great surprisingly. It rained maybe 4 out of the 10 days which was a bit depressing! We went souvenir shopping two of the days; once in Fremantle and once in downtown Perth! On another night, a group of 7 of us did a "torchlight tour" of the Fremantle prison. The brochure made it sound a lot more creepy and scary than it actually was! The prison was completely dark and a guide led us through and told scary, true stories about things that had happened there! The other big thing we did over the break was travel to Rottnest for the day! It was beautiful and I saw many animals that I had never seen before; the major one, of course, being the QUOKKA!! By chance, we also saw a wild peacock which was pretty awesome! He just so happened to be walking around the food court! The other people around didn't seem to be phased what-so-ever, so I guess it is a pretty common sight on the island! There were also TONS of pelicans which we got VERY close to! I had NO IDEA they were so big!! The rest of the time, we hung around the village, had a few drinks, and enjoyed our free time! We went out to eat a few times in Freo, and one night we stayed in because Katie's roommates said they wanted to cook us dinner! They cooked us, chicken, prawns, and KANGAROO!!! Sad, I know! Although I actually enjoyed it! If i had to describe it, I would say it is a mix between steak and venison! Delicious!! I may or may not have actually done a little homework in there as well!! Haha I now only have two more weeks before heading to NEW ZEALAND! I am beyond excited for this trip!! We will be staying in Queenstown which is located on the south island. The things we have booked so far include a 3 hour zip-lining tour (which has one of the steepest tree-to-tree zip-lines in the world), whitewater rafting, a day trip to Milford Sound (dubbed "the most beautiful place in the world"), and BUNGEE JUMPING!!! I have been debating whether or not I have it in me to bungee jump, but at this point, if I don't do it I know I am going regret it!! So I will definitely let you all know if that happens or not!! It will definitely be one of the most INSANE things I have ever done in my life!! Just a side note...it is the 3rd tallest bungee in the world (Nevis Bungee) and it is a 450ft fall which equals out to about a 9 second free fall!! CRAZY! Anyways, that's about all I have for now! I have been keeping a list of all the little difference I have come across between the US and AU! I will hopefully post a blog about that soon! Some of them are pretty entertaining! I hope all is well with everyone and I am excited to be back in a little over a month! It amazes me how fast the time has flown by! Take care! Becky Anne!
