Hello from Surfers Paradise (Gold Coast)....
We got to Surfers Paradise after a not too bad train and bus journey from Brissy. I'm not sure what I was expecting but the town itself was nice- a strange mix of high-rise buildings and beach. Definatly had a seaside town feel to it. We went for an exploring walk and saw a bit of the town. Then it was back to the hostel to get ready for 'The Outback Experience'! This was a show that our ex-employers at the lovely Emus Beach Resort had treated us to tickets to. We got te bus from just outside the hotel and were given a cowboy hat on arrival to the show- very cool. The show itself was pretty impressive- the whole arena was set up ss you could sit and eat your dinner while watching (I personally found this quite tricky though as when I was concentrating on my food I wasn't concentrating on the show..and vice versa- good steak though!) There were lots of horses and their singing riders and fast paced stunts..all in all very entertaining. And I learnt a bit about the outback and riders in WW1.
For our next day in Surfers we had been very naughty and treated ourselves to tickets to 'Wet and Wild' theme park. Naughty as neither of could afford it but we kept hearing about these famous gold coast theme parks. So we donned our bikinis (and cover up tops!) and headed out. It was pretty awesome. There were all sorts of rides from a floating river lagoon to wavy slides. I think our favourite was like a funnel that you were shot in to on a inflatable and slide around- hard to describe but lots of fun! All in all an awesome day and we were pretty knackered.
Next on to Byron Bay by bus......
