Hello from Mooloolaba.....
We arrived in Mooloolaba after a very short Greyhound trip. We were pretty knackered
from our canoe trip in Noosa and had to hang around a bit to get the bus so was good the journey was so short!
We were picked up by Mooloolaba Backpackers and given our tickets for Australia Zoo the next day. Not up to much this evening, just a much needed shower after 3 days camping which was AMAZING!
It was a short walk the next day after a free breakfast- sweet- to the pick up point for Aus Zoo courtesy bus. It didn't take long to get to the zoo and the driver was telling us about the history of the zoo and about steve irwins family. We took our map and navigated our way around. It looked huge on the map and is apparently 72 acres but we found we got around pretty fast. In the morning we went to the 'Crocoseum' for the morning show. There were exotic birds flying around and we saw elephants and crocs. Highlights of the day included 'Roo Heaven' where the kangaroos are roaming around free and you can stroke them. This was amazing, there are so much softer than you'd expect and we also got to feed them- i got quite attached!
Our big debate of the day was whether to have our picture taken with a koala. They were so cute and really hugged on to people. We decided against it as it cost $20 for photo. We did get to pat a koala twice later on though!
I really enjoyed the zoo although there isn't as much as you'd think. We did see quite a few animals though. The elephants, red panda and the otters were a few favourites. We also enjoyed feeding the goats a pigs in the kids zoo! Also saw a snake eating an entire rabbit- Nic would have enjoyed it- we took pictures!
The rest of time in Mooloolaba was spend chilling out really. We booked a Premier bus to Brissy rather than getting public train as was only a few dollars more and so much easier. Tomorrow a gentle getting up time of 10 and off to Brisbane for just the one night.
Miss you all lots
Kate and Becky
