DAY 24

Got up late packed a lunch and headed to what i thought was one of the main attractions in halifax, the citidel! when i got there the actual fort was closed but u could still walk round the grounds. i have to say i was slightly unimpressed. the map made the grounds look huge, they werent so in toltal what i thought would take me a few hours to appreciate only in fact took about 30 minutes. decided to go for a walk into the public gardens after that again unimpressed. cause its now winter most of the leaves were on the ground and everything looked pretty dead! so wandering around aimlessly i had a mini freak out and did wot anyone would do in my position...called mum and dad lol. so i sat on a bench for a bit chatting to them while they googled things for me to do in halifax. i guess i didnt take into account i was going in the off season so thought there would be more to do. the call to the folks made me feel better though and i headed back into downtown found out where the shopping malls were, got a coffee and a cookie and figured out my next move...find the info centre. found the right mall but surprise surprise its closed on the wknds which is weird when u would think thats when everyone would come to visit. so i wandered around some more and found myself at the harbour. it was kinda pretty but again everything was closed so it was pretty quiet.

i headed back to the hostel after that, made my cheapo dinner of pasta and sauce and went online. i'd bought a book, the lonely bones so i started reading that and got so into it that before i knew it it was 11pm and i really needed a shower. read some more afterwards and went to bed. not a very productive day.

DAY 25

Got up late again but this time i knew wot my plan for the day was i was going to point pleasant park right at the end of town. it was raining and misty but i still went. the walk was pretty cool i ended up by the sea, first time i've been by the sea since i was in vancouver!! so i spent the afternoon walking through the park and sitting by the sea having a picnic in the rain. i kinda liked it. on my way back to the hostel in started to pour down so i made a side trip to the movies and experienced my first ever solo movie! it wasnt as bad as i thought! i saw men who stare at goats. one of the weirdest movies i've ever seen lol but still good. when i got out the cinema it stopped raining so i went and grabbed a coffe and started walking back towards the hostel. 2 secs after getting my coffe it poured down again!! by the time i got back i was drenched. when i got to my room there were 2 new people. only 1 was there she seems nice, shes german. now i cant remember if i've alreay said this but nearly everyone here seems to be from germany!!!! what is it that attracts them here??? cause they're all german they all find each other quickly and band 2gether! its ok though i'm happy in my own wee world lol. its weird though unlike the other hostels theres no posters up with what activities are goihng on each day in the hostel like movie nights, bowling or tours so ur pretty much left to figure it all out urself. all the other hostels had welcome orientations and nightly activities. i never took part cause i've always been with suze or jen but i figured it'd be ok when i got to halifax cause i could just join in the hostel activities. hmm hasnt happened! never mind though i'm finding things to occupy my time and its only a few days until i fly home!
