So here is the first installment......
The flight was fine, fortunately slept through the majority of it and met 2 nice girls who were starting there 4 months of travelling too. Immigration was easy and then got my bag. I walked through the exit and there was big brother who had landed literally 10 mins before me. It was lovely seeing a familiar face :-)
We then went and found a local bus to get the hotel in Bangkok. Unfrotunately we were told the wrong one so had to wait another hour before we could get on the correct one. Finally we were off..... met two guys who were heading down south and got some helpful hints of places to stay and visit.
Finally we arrived at the hotel (very nice, air conditioned etc...) to find that the meeting had already started - oopps! Only 5 mins late though. After filling in all the forms and having a summary of the next twenty days we had a very quick half an hour to get changed and we were off out for dinner.
We got a local taxi to the restaurant. As you are all aware of the riots out here, there were red shirts everywhere, tanks and policeman blockading the streets however fortunately no protests. Went to the restaurant near the Kho Sam road and had my first thai green curry although had to swap with Matt as it was slightly spicy!!!!!!! So the pad thai was yummy too.
Its New Year in Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam at the moment. It lasts for 3 days and is one big party. So before and after dinner we joined the street full of people with water pistols, buckets, bottles of water just chucking it everywhere. A wicked experience. Then off home for an early start...
So today we got up at 6 to leave for Cambodia. It has been a lot of travelling but a lot of beautiful, rural countryside to see. A lot of water stops and happy house stops ( the toilet as they say that people go in grumpy and come out happy!)
Walking through the border was very hot however it took less time than I was expecting. Then a further bus trip to Siem Reap where we are for 2 days. Tonight we join New years celebrations and tomorrow we are off to the Angkor Wat and the floating market.
Gotta go and get ready but will update you all soon and I can't quite believe my adventure has really begun. Missing you all lots and thinking about you.

R and R There we were on Tuesday night in the lounge, Granddad,Aunty K and Jud and David decided to read your first email outloud. You must encourage Aunty K to join facebook as she then looked at all the Venice photos. You probably have heard that all flights in and out of Europe have been cancelled due to the volcan in Iceland [the country not the shop!] so lucky you went last week. I am waiting for Small who is on her way and we intend taking Ruby to the beach. She had a 1to1 with a Cesar Milan specialist yesterday....she was as good as gold with him but when I took over things didnt go as smoothly!!!! It will take time. Perhaps Holly will instill some good manners when they meet up next weekend. Give my love to your bro and looking forward to your next installment. What date are you planning to stay at Gilligans? Lots of love Roger and Ruby x

Roger and Ruby Had a great lunch with Twizzle [alias Small] yesterday at Hengistbury Head. Showed Small the new Brockenhurst Adventure Centre to obtain free parking. [As Jud would say...I am just like my father but then so is she]. Anyway...the reason for this second blog in 2 days is to thank you for my LABELLO. No wonder the italians have such soft lips. Why can't we buy it in The UK! I feel a Green/Hawksworth letter coming on. Love again to my favourite nephew. X
