Beki and Steves travels
we went on our trip to cape tribulation which started very early ( 7.30am) and after an hour of going round picking everyone up we finally set out from cairns to cape trib.
we headed up into the rainforest stopping at some wonderful lookouts along the way.
we had a senic coastal drive and then a river sruise on the daintree river looking for crocs! we saw a babyone which could have been a trig and was to voth of us untill it was pointed out properly.
then in the pouring rain we did a botanical boardwalk at Marrdja which was really informative and we got to see a big strangler fig tree.
we arrived in cape trib for lunch and dropped off at our accomodation for 2 nights.
it was wonderful set in the rainforest but right on the beach. as soon as we arrived the rain which had been continous stopped and we went on a walk to the lookout point via the beach.
it was a lovely walk and got to see some nice rainforest and beach aswell as some critters which said hello. it was nealry deserted.
we went back and after making a amzing tea with real meat and veg! which sent us to sleep early on a full stomach
day 2
we awoke at 10am! and ran down for a free brekkie with mins 2 spare. we had a bacon and eggs on toast yum yum which is a rarity! after faffing around for a bit and waiting for the rain to die down we decided to go on a long walk to emmigen creak. we walked through the rainforest on the dirt track occasionally confronted by a car or 2 trying to get throu. we arrived there and met another 2 people who had just come the same way. we decided not to go to the creak as it was really muddy and could suck our shoes off so decided to go for a paddle in the stream. after our paddle we uncovered the sign which said crocs, no swimming! hidden behind the jungle..... luckily we were not eaten and the river low so we couldnt swim. we walked bakc along the beach with the other 2 (lisa and a nice spanish lady) lisa was soooooo annoying. the tide came in on us and instead of being able to wlak on the beach back to the beach house resort we had to clamber over rocks which was a painful ordeal. we couldnt go in the shallow bits of the sea due to stinger and crocs and a possible shark sighting...( well it might have been... beki thinks she saw a fin)
we got back and had the same yummy tea again. and after an icecream headed off 2 bed.
day 3
got up intime for brekkie and then after check out layed on the beach for a few hours lapping up the sun( the first for a while) which was lovely. we got picked up at 1 and headed to the alexandra range lookout for abour 5mins then jumped into the bus and got onto the pully ferry back over the daintree river and then onto mossman gorge for a paddle. we travlled them to prot dougles for an icecream and then jumped back onto the bus heading back to cairns where the rain met us again.
fantastic trip!!
