we went around maggie island for the last time on the bus back to the ferry... in the rain. we caught the 6 hour bus up to Cairns and got a free burger on the way as the assisants dnt charge us on ordering or when we picked it up! yay! paid for some chips though as it was only right. we went past mission beach and innisfall which were devastated. roofs blown off trees ripped up and and half, it will take years for the eco-systems to recover, and even longer for the people, especailly the bannana farmers who lost everything. it was really sad to see miles of bannana fields flattened. cairns itself was relatively untouched from the damage and we arrived here at about 9pm and after faffing around at the hostel we hit the sack
