wel we do we start.. we met tony, our WWOOF host, Tony, in Darwin as arranged. His car was a wreck and it stunk of piss, he smoked constantly and make racist remarks. so it wasnt a good start. we got to his 'art gallery', which was nothing than sub standard paintings on wire fencing outside! beki stood in a massive dog poo, from one of the four mingin dogs. we had a tour of his paddock, it wasnt very nice but we had suffered worse so we were happy to stick it out for a few days. he offered us a cup of tea at 12 n said lunch was at 12.30, so we made some tea (ourselves) n sat and read the paper for a bit. he gave us a hint that he wanted us to work so we changed into our work clothes n went outside. our job was to pick up dead wood n other stuff n put it into piles, no problem, so we did.. half an hour later he calls steve over n says 'its not gonna happen mate, im gonna drop u off at Palmerston' (a town south of Darwin). steve thought he was offering us a lift or he was gonna take us somwewhere. he then said your hearts not in it n that Steve had been slouching about n my attitude was bad n tht we werent as good as his last WWOOFER, a Korean girl who was gods gift in his eyes. Steve went and told beki that he wants us to leave, she thought he was joking, it took a few minutes to realise that he wasnt. both bewildered and shocked we went over to him and he went off on one..about how he was an old man but he still could walk around without slouching n stuf and how the Korean girl had done four piles of wood in two hours, yes fair enough, there wasnt any left for us to do thats why it looked like we hadnt done much. he said he didnt expect WWOOFERS to work themselves to death but he wasnt them to show some effort, bear in mind he had only given us half an hour, a pretty quick judgement we think. he went on to say that its best that we left now instead of him building up to a rage through the week!! what was he gonna do beat Steve up or somethin?! yeh right.. we got changed and went outside with our rucksacks to find the car boot well and truly open!!! after an uncomfortable journey to the bus station he apologised to Beki?!?like it was all Steves fault and completely ignored him.. bear in mind we had no idea which bus to get back to Darwin, he didnt help us he literally left us there. also if the hostels in Darwin had been booked we would have been well and truly screwed. on hindsight it started early on because when beki met him outside he half jokingly said 'i was gonna take 2Dutch people back with me' implying that we were late (we were 1min late)we didnt laugh at his racist joke, we wernt in awe of his artwork (which was crap), Steve wasnt interested in old beat up cars and we made a joke that we wernt very good at art. all these things we think annoyed him. he said he has 'GOOD' WWOOFERS ringin him all the time and that us bein here was a waste of time well we got back to Darwin still tryin to work out what the hell had just happened n luckily the hostel had some free beds. we quickly wrote a email to the WWOOF website hosts detailing what happened so hopefully something will be done about Tony the Tosser. we are now trying to work out what we are going to do in the coming weeks as he has messed up our plans entirely. we think we are gonna go on an Ayres rock 3 day tour soon. we have also booked a tour of the Whitsundays, Fraser Island, Great Barrier Reef etc.. cant wait so there you have it our worst day of our travels, in the words of D:Ream "Things can only get better"
