June 13th
got up and had a malasian style breakfast which was rottie and dahl and some other sweet things. generally very nice but a bit strange. we then got on a boat to a village and had a tour around there and were told about the style of houses as well as some of the herbs that they use. we then headed off on a trek throught the jungle up to a waterfall. on the way we were greeted by some natives in the form of leeches. not nice. had to burn them off. then we headed to the actual waterfall and swam around in the plunge pool for a while before heading back down the hill to the village. then we went back on the boat towards our island for lunch. after lunch we learnt how to wear traditional malay sarongs and then chilled out doing whatever we wanted to do before tea. me, jo, chris and nathan decided to do a malay cooking class which was amazing. learn loads! so if anyone wants to be a guniea pig then let me know! then we hada traditional malay meal where we all wore our skirts and had to sit around a big dinner table that was on the floor. we also had to et with out hands which was so bizare eating rice and spicy runny dishes with fingers. then after dinner we chatted before making our way back to our spider free hut!

got up in the morning and had more malaysian breaksfast things before getting a boat to the main land. we then got on a bus that took us for a tour around a city where we learnt about mosques and got to go in and have a look. we had to wear silly budhist robes that made us look like idiots. then after we had finsihed looking like idiots we headed to a market which stank of dead fish and then caught a bus through to the ferry terminal where we caught a boat to penang. we then checked into our hotel and went to do a load of washing. after catching up oin the internet we headed back to the hotel for a wander around some of the city and a look around the area. also went to try and see if the cash point would like lauras card yet - it didnt. then went back to the room for a change of clothes. bought some booze and headed up to our leaders room as she had a balcony to watch the sun set. after that we headed down for an indian. we waited for a food for over an hour but opnly 2 or 3 people got there meals so we all got up and walked off - people who came in after us were getting served way before us - not on! so we headed to another indian which was very nice. then had a couple of drinks before headingf home to bed.

got up and went for breakfast. me laura jo and emma had decided the night before to go to the chinese temple but then rob (this guy on our tour) decided to come alongas well which screwed up our plans of getting us all in one taxi so it became more expensive. anyway after we took a half hour drive to ther temple we had a good look around. was massive and took ages. was really impressive. then we headed back down to the hotel and went in the pool. we sunbathed for a while and messed around swimming before heading abck to our hotel to get showered and go on the net etc. we also had to pack. had a group meeting then headed out for tea.

got up early and got a mini van across to the thai border. we went through customs etc and then headed up to a bus station in thailand where we were leaving our taxi and getting on a thai bus. these buses were nothing like the ones in malaysia - no air con or reclining seats. so we sweated loads! got off in nakhon si tharat (or something like that) and caught a ute with seating in the back to our hotel. very posh. we then went to the local carrefour (so far we have frech supermarkets as well as english tesco's!) and then back to the hotel. some of us went to see a traditional thai muppet maker which was awesome - was shadow puppets that were made of waterbuffalo. amazing. we had a puppet show which was completely random but farely entertaining. we then went out for tea and endedup haveing a couple of drinks which turned into a lkot of drinks! managed to stumble home and get to bed.
by the way - i am currently in koh samui and went to the full moon party which was so much fun! xxx
