Ok guys appologies for my rubbishness for the past 3 months or so! I have been so busy its been crazy and now i have finally a few hours that i can spend updating you on the general stuff that has happened to me in perth and now in Queensland.
Well - basically to cover everything would take to long so in short - I have been working my ass off and been managing the riding school while james and eleta went on holiday! I also competed a bit my self and came 3rd in a dressage competition- was very pleased with my self. i also fell off my superstar horse mr ruddles(rusty) and hurt my back so much that i couldnt do anything for a couple of weeks - all better now thou. what else - urm...... not a lot really saw a bit more of WA but not as much as i'd have like to. so on to the fun part that i can be bothered to update.
Monday 7th april
spent all day traveling (took off from perth at midnight and landed in cairns after having a detour to melbourne at 12 in the afternoon) met up with laura for the first time in 6 months at cairns and then caught a bus to the hostel that we were staying at. was really nice. we checked in and then went into town to have a look around and then grabbed some lunch. we then went home for a shower etc and then went back into town to have some tea and to see what kind of tours etc were on offer. we came back to the hostel and we booked a trip to kuranda which we would travel to by sky rail and then come back from on a train.
Tuesday 8th April
it rained most of the day so its jst as well we decided not to do any trips this day. we had originally planned to sunbathe in the morning, go into town in the afternoon and then do a bit more sunbathing by the lagoon. well that plan was out of the window! so we went into town anyway and did the things that we needed to do, like book our bus nad see about the trips on offer to go to the Barrier Reef. we also thought we'd be clever and buy stuff to ,make for lunch and tea so that we wouldn't need to spend too much on meals. we then chilled out for the rest of the day and then once we'd had tea we watched the film that was on the big screen which was HOSTEL - not the most appropriate film for backpackers to watch( for those that done know what its about its basically about backpackers who get kidnapped and chopped up. not nice)
Wednesday 9th april
WE got up early and went on a bus up to the kuranda skyrail. we got on and the views from it was fantastic. we then arrived in kuranda (after stopping at a few of the platforms on the wasy) and had lunch and decided that we'd go to the koala sanctury as there wasn't a lot more else to do. so off we went and we came across crocs, kangaroos, snakes and KOALA's. we couldnt stop singing 'never smile at a crocodile' (mum u are rubbing off on me and i dont appreciate it!love you really) and then the moment of truth we were going to hold a koala!!! was fantastic! the one we held was only a baby one and only been held by visitors for about a month where as the others were all seasoned handled koalas (not sure if that makes any sense but it does to me!) so anyway we got our pics taken with the kolas - our seemed to be a bit tired and looked like he was going to slip out from underneath your arm! and then we went and played with the kangaroos and then went to see the other animals. once the koalas had had enough of us we decided to go for a walk around the rainforest along the trail. was good fun but we didnt see any animals apart from a few spiders(little one) a bird and a few lizards! we then got on the train to come home and watched the world go by VERY SLOWLY and then got off and treked home. we got a BBQ dinner which included a free drink (YEY) and then cooked out dinner and then watched Bad boys 2 on the internet.
Thursday 10th april
we had to get up early again so we could catch the bus to the reef so we could go and visit nemo. we got there a bit early so we chilled out and waited for them to be ready for us. we got on the boat and they did the whole saftey bit and then we chilled out on the catermeran and caught some sun! was lovely and relaxing until the boat hit a wave and soaked laura!! ahahaha. we then got to the reef site and snorkelled around. we saw some huge fish and some really bizzare colourful ones. also we saw NEMO!!!! was fantastic but i think ive been watchiung that film too much cos i expected it to be a whole lot brighter and more colourful but was still pretty cool. we got back on the boat and had lunch and moved on to the next site. we snorkelled again and then went back towards cairns. well we seemed to be going a bit quicker and with a glass of wine in hand and a towel held on with the other we got soaked everytime we went up and down so we all quickly moved inside - one wave we hit came in through the gap in the screens and flooded the carpet! we then came back to the harbour and caught the bus home and then had tea and packed!
friday 11th april
had to get up at 5.30 am! not impressed i can tell you. anyway we then got on our bus (after waiting for an hour)to townsville. was a 6 hour journey. we then got off and walked to the hostle and dumped out stuff and went for a walk around. sent a parcel home which will probably get home some time after i get home - its going by sea so it has an excuse. we found the beach and were very happy to sit their for the rest of the afternoon just chatting. we then came back to the hostel and booked our sydney harbour bridge walk and then went across the road to the pub for our free tea which was really quite nice and very filling so that was a good money saver. we had a few drinks then went back to the hostle to go to sleep.
Sat 12th april
got up for our fee breakfast and then played on the internet before heading off to the beach. spent the whole morning tanning before heading back to the hostel to get our bags and making our way down to the bus terminal. we caught a bus to airlie beach which seemed to take forever but it was only another 5 hours!. we had booked to go onto the whitsundays the next day so we just had to find our hostle and dump our stuff. when we arrived it turned out to be acomplete dump! the lights in out dorm didnt work, the place was dirty and the kitchen didn't work, the laundry didnt work, the locks were pretty screwed as well. so DO NOT GO TO KOALA BACKPACKERS IN AIRLIE BEACH!!!!!! anywya we then had a shower and then went out in search of tea. after filling our bellys we felt the need to have a few drinks. a few drinks turned into a bit of a mamoth session and ended up stumbling home a little the worse for wear. but was a good night cos we met a group of blokes who were traveling up from Newcastle Australia which was very exciting.
Sunday 18th april
got up not feeling too clever and got ready to catch the bus to the harbour. after getting on the boat we nearly got blown away sitting on the top deck. we then moved downstairs and waited to get to our first stop - LONG ISLAND which was so pretty. we spent the morning chilling out, having breakfast and then doing a bit of sea canoeing (appologies for spelling) and then we had to leave. we then moved on to DAYDREAM ISLAND which was so beautiful - would have been happy to stay there! we went and had a look around and got to pat stingrays in this coral lagoon. we saw nemo and more fish. was amazing. we had lunch in the hotel restaurant and then chilled out and sunbathed with a view of the other whitsundays. onto the next island which was SOUTH MOLLE ISLAND which was nice as well (dad u'd have been happy - full 18 hole golf course!) and we then went to feed the birds - not ur normal pigeon but parrots. they came and flew down to eat the fruit we had to give them and they landed all over you - one landed on my head and decided to do its business their. was not impressed at all! we met a couple from the gold coast as well who seemed nice. after more chilling out we got back on the boat and back to the harbour. we then got off and had tea and went back to the hostle.
running out of time - will update soon xxxx
