Hello everybody!!

Well we've arrived in Singapore with no major disasters - flight was ok but really tiring and not the most comfortable sleeping despite our first thoughts as we got on the plane. We saw the really spacious seats and got quite excited until we realised we were walking through business class and we were really at the back with about enough leg room for a legless child! We arrived in Singapore in the early evening so it wasnt too hot and just about managed to get to the hostel with our bags although not sure we could have walked much further.

Hostel was rather bizarre when we walked in - we thought we were going into someones house! The pics when we booked it were rather deceiving as it failed to mention the very small communal area and the fact that the shower cubicles are actaully in the kitchen and also happen to contain the toilets! We will follow with some pics as soon as we can to illustrate.

So we just decided to wander out of the hostel to find somewhere to eat which at first was a bit uncomfortable as we were the only westerners in the area and kept getting stared at! When we eventually found a street cafe that looked ok we were confronted by a menu containing pigs stomach soup and braised pigs trotters! Lovely. So we went for the only thing we recognised which was pork with noodles, but that was so hot that it burnt our mouths off! Probably better than the pigs stomach though.

Off today to see some sights, maybe be cultural and looks at temples and stuff. The pic of the elephants will all become clear in later entries ;)
