Hello everyone!
Well I hope I haven't confused people too much, I am currently in LA as I am on my home but had a quick two night stop off in Los Angeles, so this will be my last addition to the blog - rather sad!
Anyway, as Jen and Becki have already said we had a fantastic last night in New Zealand, with a scrummy meal, lots of nice wine and plenty of boogeying! I was slightly luckier than the other two as I had a day of doing nothing to nurse my sore head. After Jen and Becki left on Sunday afternoon, I had a wander round Auckland city and generally didn't do anything of much excitement. An early night was had to catch up on the lack of sleep the previous night. On Monday I got up early and caught the bus to Newmarket (a suburb of Auckland which apparently had good shopping) and had a browse of the shops and a spot of lunch. In the afternoon I had friends again (yipee!) as I met up with Lauren (one of the girls from our Fraser tour) and we chilled by the waterfront. At sunset we went up the Sky Tower, which is the tallest tower in the southern hemisphere, so I got some good views of the city.
On tuesday I caught my flight at 6pm, it wasnt too boring as the entertainment system (films, games, TV shows!) keep me amsued for several hours! Managed to get a few hours sleep, as the seat between me and the next passenger was empty, although she decided to stretch out and in her sleep kept placing her legs across my whole body so she was lying over three seats! I was too polite to say anything, instead I just kept subtly pushing them off - but they just came right back at me again! I landed at 10.00am on tuesday after going back 20hours in time (so I lived tuesday twice which was slightly bizarre!) and managed to get to my hostel in Sanata Monica. But not before negotiating the customs officers - they were rather scary, they took my finger prints and scanned my eye balls! Spent the afternoon having a nosey around the area before heading early to bed.
Today I spent the morning shopping - the shops are amazing here! Also had a look round a farmers market where the locals sell their produce, bought some yummy strawberries and sugar snap peas for lunch. The afternoon was spent on the beach, trying to regain some of the tan that was lost in New Zealand. I have just been out for a meal - was bizarre eating alone, but I took my book for entertainment and didn't feel too much like a loner! I fly home tomorrow afternoon and will be back in the UK on friday morning. LA has been good, glad I stopped for a couple of days, but it is very 'american'! Literally everyone walks around with a handsfree ear piece in carrying a large starbucks coffee - so it looks as thought everyone is talking to themselves!
Well, I have had an absolutely amazing time travelling and would like to say thanks to Jen and Becki for putting up with me, its been fab! I will miss you, as we have literally spent the last 3 months within a few metre radius of each other!! But hope you have lots of fun in South America and I will see you back in the UK in the summer.
Lots of Love and goodbye from me, Sam xx xx xx
