It's been another long day, although at least it was fun. I've heard that Chicago can get humid, but today wasn't so bad. It was really hot though. 99 degrees by 3!! Not the best weather to be walking around in, but oh well. I started my morning as many others do in rush hour traffic. When I got downtown it was weird because as soon as I hit Michigan Ave. I knew exactly where I was and how to get where I wanted to go. I even remember how to get to the hotel I stayed at a year ago using the el train. I found parking (not too ***********g as you are willing to pay $15 for the day! Ouch!) and then went to the Field Museum. Some places get built up so much that they can't help but be a let down. Not the Field Museum. It was just as amazing as I remembered. Even if you don't like museums you will still love the Field Museum because it is just that awesome. My first stop was the lions of Tsavo. I remembered how to get there and they were just as creepy as the last time. They are from the movie The Ghost and the Darkness. They killed over 140 people. I wondered around the museum for a while and went to see the new exhibit about natural disasters. Although small it was also amazing. They have it divided into natural disasters; tornado's, hurricanes, tsunamis, earthquakes, etc. The exhibit was very informative. Great for kids, adults, and the young at heart (like me!). They also had one really cool part with actual artifacts from the tornado that hit in Kansas last year. They show the actual things and pictures of where they were found. I was also reminded that I will be driving right through tornado alley on the way home. Next up was Grant Park. I already went there last year, but it is still beautiful. Chicago is one of the most photogenic cities I know of and Grant Park is a great place to take some pictures. Then I stumbled upon somewhere that I hadn't seen last time. I don't know where or what it is, but it's gorgeous. From there I took a water taxi to the Navy Pier. Not quite the same as a ferry, but it will do. After Navy Pier I found Millennium Park, which I had failed to do last time. And it was worth it! It's a gorgeous, small (compared to Grant Park, which spans for miles) park right in the center of downtown. I found the coolest place there. It must be the ice skating rink in the winter, but in the summer it's kind of like a giant wading pool. There is a wall on each side and the walls change...sometimes they look like plain brick walls and other times they have faces or designs. Why can't we have a place like that in Denver? It was so fun and the water felt so good. I had a hard time leaving. It's probably going to be an early day...I need to do some homework. I know, I know, no homework on vacation. But I'm not even suppose to be on vacation. Anyway, for now Raina and I are going to go find a Starbucks and then walk around the hotel a bit to take pictures of the suburb where we are staying, called Downers Grove by the way. Wonder how much it costs to live here...tomorrow I am off to the beach because I didn't get to see that last time. Then Raina and I are going to go downtown at night because I also didn't do that last time. I bet the city is gorgeous at night. Then again it's gorgeous during the day.
