I finally made it! For a while there I wasn't sure that I would. That was the longest drive ever. I ended up leaving Denver last night a little after 10 and drove all through the night. I kept pulling over at rest stops to try to sleep but it didn't work. Now I have two and a half days in Chicago and then I have to do that drive again. Poor Raina doesn't know what to do with herself, she is so overstimulated but she will be happy when we go to the dog beach. The location of the hotel is nice. It's in a suburb of Chicago called Downers Grove. There are tons of stores nearby, not that I will get to visit them though cause I am dead broke. It's about nineteen miles from Chicago, although I haven't made that drive yet and don't plan to until tomorrow. Since I haven't slept since Saturday night I plan on going to Target to get a cell phone charger and a razor blade cause I forgot those. Knew I had to forget something! The drive here was okay...definitely not much to see, especially since half of it was at night. I did see a really pretty sunrise somewhere in Nebraska. And I can now say that I have kind of been to Nebraska and Iowa. If anyone is crazy enough to make the drive from Denver to Chicago here are some tips. In Iowa and Illinois be careful, there are cops EVERYWHERE along I-80. The rest stops in Nebraska are pretty nice, although the ones in Iowa are better. If I keep going at this rate I'll visit a rest stop in every state. Virginia still has the nicest ones I've seen so far...now I'm just babbling. This is what sleep deprivation does. Time to find some food and Target. Tomorrow all I know for sure is that I'm visiting the Field Museum. I love that place and didn;t get to see much of it last time! I can't believe I'm in Chicago...I must be insane to have made that drive.
