So after our great experience on our 24hr bus journey to salta we got rightly confident in thinking all bus trips would be like that!! Wow how we were deceived! Left salta that night and hoped on this horrendous bus with mostly locals to the border of Argentina to enter into Bolivia. When the bus stopped at the border at 6am we groggily got off only be snapped awake the the sheer cold (being stupid gringos in light clothing didn't help)! We then had to walk a couple of km with our backpacks to border crossing. At this stage we were numb. While getting my passport stamped the guard decided to go on break and leave us standing around at 6am in -10 degrees!!!! Finally when we got through we got into what I can only describe as a camper van full to the brim of locals and their local produce! When we got off in tupiza we found a nice hotel and I defrosted myself in the shower for at least 20 mins. This was def a low point of our travels! Its all well a good to have cold weather at home when you have central heating or a fire to light or even warm clothes to dress in! The Bolivians are hard core and just wrap up for the weather, no heating, no fire, no nothing!!! So that in mind we set off to buy alpaca jumpers, scarfs, gloves, socks, fleece leggings (for me), blankets! You name it, if it was warm we bought it!
