Yes...so it´s bin...almost a month since I last posted a msg. La-dee-da. I have one written onmy mental last week in Paraguay...but I haven´t posted it. jeje
So where am I? Where have I been? and Where´s my next port-of-call?
I´m currently in my last stop in Brasil. The island of St.Catarina where the famous surf beaches and city of Florianopolis is. Arrived here yesterday after an epic bus adventure. Was so knackered when I got in, but couldn´t sleep coz of the bloody mosquitos who devoured my flesh all night...b******s.
Brasil. Well...carly and I travelled from Asuncion to Ciudad de Leste....spent the night there and travelled to Sao Paulo where we caught a flight to Salvador de Bahia. In Bahia we couldn´t have asked for a better start to our trip. We stayed at a well cool hostel and met some class folk. We arrived Xmas eve and straight away headed to the beach with folk from the hostel for dirnks and a wee swim. And from there our wee family was formed. A group of about 9 of us hung out a lot and spent Xmas day together on the beach. 6 of the group ended up travelling together for the next 3 weeks. Brooke and Charlie, 2 aussies were ´the parents´ of the group, then there was mat and steve, 2 swiss guys, and carly and I. The 6 of us spent New Years together in Rio de Janeiro which was f***in mental...an New Years that i will never forget...the long and short of it was that the 6 of us plus Ulrica a swedish girl who was at our hostel in salvador, ended up losing each other amongst the millions on Ipanema beach and due to our drunken state. After our banck accounts being drained in Rio...we headed south to the most beautiful island i´ve ever been to...a total paradise...Ilha Grande.
So the 1 1/2 hr boat trip to the island turned out to be over 2hrs. It was raining, we were cold and the sea was crazy...and we were on a fishing boat...yes, a fishing boat made of wood. We arrived on the island at night cold, hungry and without accomodation...and our home for the next 6 days turned out to be a ´favela´...damn it was fun. The island and the locals made up for our crazy accomodation. And with the island being so small, kris was known as the portuguese girl by many of the locals, mainly Charlies marijuana finding dude and the ice cream man. Ah comedy times. The 3 boys got a tatoos whilst on the island as a reminder of our wee trip.
Steves 22nd birthday was spent on the island and it was classy. Us lot dressed as beach bums in our flip-flops, t-shirts and shorts in a pretty expensive restaurante...nice. The food was so so good...one of the best meals I´ve ever had and the price was rather nice to...but the swiss tradition of one paying for things on their b´day was one for the rest of us to adopt...but Steve, I do feel bad, you should have let us chip in :(
We left the island early tuesday morning expecting to get a direct bus to Florianopolis, but NO. We ended up havin to wait 5 hrs in the terminal for a bus to Sao Paulo. Got intop Sao Paulo at 12am and with no buses left to Florianopolis we had to crash at a hostel with the boys and Brooke and Charlie. Got up early yesterday morning to get a bus to Florianopolis, but once again NO. Had to get a 6hr bus to Curitiba then wait 1hr there and get another one to Florianopolis...and that´s where we our now...The 1st time in 3 weeks where it´s just Carly and i again coz the others have either flown home or to central america. I miss you guys mucho. It´s weird not being with you all :(
So we´re here in Floro until the 17th...then on to Montevideo, Uruguay and then to Buenos Aires for 2 weeks to stay at our friend Martins who we met at the hostel in Salvador. Rock on Argentina...am so excited.
Love you all mucho
Will post more frequently...I promise...and pics too
all my love
the one and only,

Hey guys,
So what’s been happening here. What hasn’t to be perfectly honest. You may have seen on the news that there’s bin a few probs in Paraguay…rather exciting. And no there’s no ‘’war’’ going on as my mum thought there was. One hits the news and ahhh “war”. No, just a couple of supermarket burn-outs, burnt out cars on the street and protestations with some fighting involved So I thought that I’d dedicate this email to explaining the story of the recent riots and the history behind them.
The story is all about a supermarket and a cursed piece of land. 2 years ago one of the main supermarkets in Asunción burnt down killing over 400 people. Only last week was the sentence given to the owners of the supermarket. The result of which was that they were given 5yrs in prison for killing over 400 people. Fair? No. So the recent riots from the locals and family of the victims, was by no means out of order. But let me fill you in on the story. Years ago before the supermarket there was a lake, where a young boy drowned. The boy was an only child, and his mother claimed the land to be cursed because of her loss. After the lake dried up, a park was build on top of the land. One day a young boy was using the swings in the park and went over the top bar, coming down with the chain slashing his throat, eventually bleeding to death. The park was later destroyed and a house was built on top. It too was eventually destroyed by a fire, killing all the occupants. After the house fire, the supermarket was built on the same piece of land. The day that the fire hit the supermarket was the international holiday; “Friendship Day”, so everyone, mainly the young, were out. The fire started in the kitchen, a gas explosion. The explosion traveled through the air vents killing those who were at the shopping cart port first. They were found burned holding on to their carts. Following this, those who were in their cars either leaving or entering the supermarket were also hit by the explosion and killed. Some burnt to their steering wheels. Entire car loads of family were instantly killed. The gas then traveled through the vents and killed those inside the supermarket including a party of 200 children in the food court. The doors of the supermarket were at this point closed, not because of a technical problem, but because the employees were ordered to close them so that no-one could leave the supermarket without paying for their goods. Anyone who could have survived, had no chance, they were locked in with no way out. Fire balls were rolling through the isles killing anyone is its path. The ceiling melted and chunks fell on top of anyone below. Only 2 children survived, one, a 5 month old child who was shielded by his deceased father’s body, and another who was placed in the freezer by his parents. The largest family that died contained 14 people, mainly children. A friend of mine, here in Paraguay had been out on a trip with friends all of whom were medical students and were celebrating their final exams. On the journey home, one of them had a call asking for their assistance at the explosion since they were considered “white-collar” workers. She said the smell was horrendous, but because it was so traumatic one eventually got used to the smell and found a way to ignore it. She and her classmates were finding and picking up burned limbs everywhere. She even came across an ex-boyfriend, his pregnant wife and their young child, burnt to death.
Everyone in Asunción knew of someone who had been killed in that fire. The following day was made a national holiday and on the local buses one was to find at least one person dressed in black mourning someone who had been killed in the explosion
Turns out since the day the supermarket opened, the boiler, in the kitchen, had never been maintained. In Paraguay there are no juries, so 3 judges ruled on the case of the supermarket. Two of the judges ruled for negligence, and the other ruled for murder. Obviously someone was paid some big bucks to rule on NEGLIGENCE, but then again this is Paraguay and anything can happen, plus Paraguay is the second country in the world for having the most corrupted government. What can I say, that’s Paraguay for you Don’t worry I have not joined any Under Ground Party who are planning to overthrow the Government here…then again, what use would I be. I have learnt a hell of a lot about politics since being here in Paraguay though, but I aint got the brains to plot anything mental…so unfortunately you won’t be seeing me on the news with some white flag and singing any anti-government songs. Would be cool though! Anyways, I’ve updated you on the latest BIG thing in Paraguay…Love u all mucho,Krisxoxox

Hello my loves. So I was checking my page the other day and I realised that I have written anything since my op nor have I put any recent pics up. With so many pics that I´ve taken recently, I´m goin to have to spend a couple of hours just uploading my extensive photo collection. Fun, fun! So wot´s happened since I last filled u all in on my adventures?honestly, lots. Well 1st things 1st?after what seemed like an eternity of phone calls from the pathologist calling me up telling me that he wanted to run more tests on my wee b****** of a mole, I finally got my results and I´m all clear. So I ´aint got cancer?thank god coz that would have totally ruined my trip and my life to be frank! With the stitches out, I have now got a crackin scar to remind me of Paraguay?lovely jubley. Canny swim in the pool for another few days coz the chlorine might infect it?which is sooooo annoying coz it´s so god damn hot here that all I want to do is jump in the pool. Ah the wee b******. Anyways. As you will all see I have uploaded some rather interesting pics of Mo and I and our colleagues from work at the Halloween partay that we had at the institute a couple of weeks back. It was mental, so much fun. We went back to our youths and played all the classic games that one played at kids parties. Have to admit though, when it came to the talent contest to give out prizes for the best, scariest, most original etc. dressed, I think that the teachers should have won something?I mean Mo was dressed as an aerobics instructor/pirate, I was dressed as some trani/w**** thing (to the kids I was just some weirdo?not much of a change then), Chris and Ben 2 of the other British teachers went as women as well as Ricardo who works in the office. The 5 of us looked ´amazing´. The worst of it is that the outfit that both Morna and I wore, were NOT bought in a fancy dress store, but in a department store here in the city which is the equivalent of Debbenhams back home. Who in gods name still wears those aerobics/swim suit things to the gym and what is their actual purpose and who in their right mind would wear that lilac and black stripey, tight ass ensemble that I wore? Seriously, it baffles me that someone might have these items in their wardrobe and actually wear them out in public!!! Ah dear! Up until the other weekend nothing else of much excitement has happened, but our wee trip to Argentina was a total adventure and a weekend that I will never forget. The result of that weekend is that I nursed a runny nose, an even more spaced out head and a look of total deadness for about 10days?no joke. It´s not just the fact that we got home at 6am on the morning, but look for about a week was mainly the result of 3 days of total mentalness and minimal and I mean minimal sleep. As you all know, we´re living and working here in bonnie Asuncion on a tourist visa, illegal, yes, but no-one here really gives a damn whether something is legal or illegal, ?everything here is possible??but still, we had to leave for at least 72hrs to get a new 90 day visa, great excuse to leave the country and do a bit of travelling. So on the Friday morning, after having gone to bed at 1:30am and being totally knocked out by natures finest, I got up at 3:30am, dragged Mo out of bed at 4am and off we went to the bus terminal to catch out 6am bus ride to Resistencia, in northern Argentina. The journey was what one would expect when your Kris and Mo and have to pick the one bus service which gets stopped 5 or 6 times a long the way by the police to inspect your luggage to see if you´re carrying anything illegal. Only when we get to Argentina and talk to folk there, do we realise that it is the only bus service which gets stopped so many times because it regularly has passengers carrying black market and illegal goods which give the bus company such a ?good? rep. Great! So in total I personally got no sleep on the way down. On the journey this guy seated in front of me started talking to me and advised us that we should not go to the city that we were intending to go to, but another one because Resistencia is basically crap with nothing to do. So we arrive and he said that he was being picked up by his friend and that they´d give us a lift to another city called Corrientes which was 20mins away which we´d enjoy more. The long and short of it is that Morna and I ended up spending no money on accommodation or food during the whole weekend. We were taken out to a well nice lunch at this restaurant on the river in Corrientes with this guy Omar that we met on the bus and his friend Valeriano whose name we couldn´t pronounce for ages and thus called him Jo all weekend. We had a tour of the city and were invited to crash at Omars house in this wee town about 1hr outside Corrientes called Paso de la Patria, where the wealthy folks have their weekend home. That evening we got a wee bit drunk on Champagne on the banks of the river and went swimming whilst the sun set and had the most amazing sky above us. It was so beautiful. From there we went to Omars for dinner and hung out at his place. That night there was such a crazy storm that I thought I was on a tropical island or something and that the house, the trees, everything was goin to fly away?it was mental. The next day we got up at 9am with this kick ass storm still in full swing and for breaky we had a Capirinha made with Bacardi and some strawberries thrown in. At around mid day we had a strawberry smoothie with some of natures finest. That afternoon we made a space cake and that was us gone for a considerable length of time. We left the house and drove through the mental storm back to Resistencia. If I had been sober I would have been s***ting myself coz parts of the journey were horrendous, the jeep was literally drivin at a 90degree angle for the first ½ of the drive as the roads were so muddy and slippery, but as I was in cloud 9 I found it wicked and was havin a whale of a time surfing on the dirt tracks. The days adventures got better when we got back to Resistencia. We met up with some of the boys friends and hung out with them for the rest of the evening and the following day. We got even more trashed and at 2 in the morning had to pull over coz we somehow had a flat tire. It was rather amusing watching 3 wasted boys, and this random old dude trying to change a tire. From there we hit it to Pachaa. All I can say is what the f*** is Pachaa doing in a dead beat town called Resistencia which is situated in the middle of nothing? This famous club found in places like Ibiza, Spain, Portugal and in Buenos Aires, well known happening cities and countries, but Resistencia? Seriously...it was so random. It was a wicked night though. Too much champagne and god knows what else left us crawling out of the club when it was closing at 8am. We spent the rest of the day sleeping at this girl Eugenias flat and hanging out with her. She´s such a sweet and sound girl who we only really got to know properly on the Sunday coz on the Saturday night at the club Morna and I had all eyes on her coz she was so wasted that she kept wandering off and doing stupid things so we kinda had to look after her coz the boys were in no state to do that. So that´s that. We left Argentina at midnight on the Sunday and got into Asuncion at 5am on the Monday morning. After such a mental weekend, there was nothing better and more heavenly than getting home and crawling into my bed. Total bliss!
Well mis amores. I think that that is a rather detailed message of my recent experiences an my vida loca in S.A. I will try and actually post messages more frequently so that you don´t have to read such long essays every blue moon which probably bore you?I hope they don´t bore you too much
I shall love you all and leave you here for now.Miss u all mucho?Muchos besos,Krisxoxox
