India to Vietnam, via Bangkok! A city that has been visited by both of us many times and one of our favourites in South East Asia, happy to have a few days here before Vietnam. We'd also booked a nice hotel near the airport, big comfortable rooms with a standalone bath, a pool and all the holiday comforts normally missed when travelling...!
However, it was never going to be an easy journey getting there! A combination of a train, two taxis and a flight, with major delays to start, traffic in between and vast distances to overcome! We made it in the end, after about 26 hours of travelling!
Near the hotel was a local market and a 7/11 store! So we were set... Toasties and Thai food, combined with a few cheap Chang beers!
The first day we just chilled around the hotel, hit the pool and had a few beers that evening. Even though we didn't even venture into the city centre, it was nice being back in Thailand with everything, even in the shops, being nicely familiar!
The next day we hit the biggest market in Thailand and probably South East Asia, over 800 stools and covering a massive area it had everything you could want. We munched and drunk our way through all the local bits we'd missed in India and restocked our backpacks with a decent set of clothes! Gemma was in her element and it was the first time we'd really shopped properly since we'd started travelling so I let a decent few hours pass in there!
The final evening we took a trip down our local street for some more food and made the most of the hotel luxuries after that! However another early start was in order for our flight to Vietnam. In true style of it never being easy... The taxi didn't arrive on time and I had to run to the place we booked it so they could wake him up at 3am, being chased by a pack of dogs on route!! Onward bound...
