All packed up and ready to go. Jc's baked an energy cake and chosen her Luxury Item (flask for hot drinks). I'm still pondering my Luxury Item but I think it will probably be Huntzilla which is a toy chimpanzee that I won last Saturday when, along with Jenny, Lily and Martyn Young, I won the Hash Treasure Hunt based on the Gorillas of Bristol (surely the prize should have been a Gorilla, but I think it was all the organiser, Doris Doombar, could find). It won't bring good luck but it may be a conversation opener with the natives. It may even help secure a bed for the night when they take pity on the bedraggled and endearing simian.
The forecast for the 10 hour crossing to St Malo looks bad "Fresh gusting winds in the South-West approaches". But the weather on the French side looks promising. Jen's offered me some of her travel pills.
Au revoir!

Janet Pollard I am currently sat beside Jackie who is very, very excited - not too sure how fit she is for the adevnture after all the cake testing! I'm not too sure whether Steve's chimpanzee will help to make friends - the natives may well run a mile!
Kat Chitnis Good luck Steve and hope the weather gets better!
Paul James Good to catch up with you yesterday over lunch. Have a good trip. Now remember my nutritional advice to ensure that you are operating optimally as you ride: a couple of bottles of wine over lunch to wash down a three or four courses. This should set you up nicely for the afternoon session.
Ange Let me know what your dietary requirements for the Canal du Midi stage and whether its wine or beer that will make you go faster!
Ange Oh and good luck. See you soon
Vick Well Done, you must have made it by now - That wasn't so bad was it. Now where's a nice cup of tea. Bonne journee. Vick
