Before arriving in Puerto Varas, we spent 36 hours on a bus. This 36 hours is a time that we do not wish to recount so we will just say two words: soul destroying.
So, we were very relieved to get here. It's a town in the lake district of Chile and overlooks a lake with views of Volcan Osorno- really pretty. We had 3 days here and we just wanted to relax and recharge our batteries, so for 2 days we did very little; we read, walked along the lake and ate ice cream.
Although relaxing is nice, we were bored doing nothing for the whole time so one of the days we decided to go kayaking on the lake at sunset. It was pretty tough going at first as we were going against the wind and a French girl we were with was so lazy that she had to be towed by the instructor. After the first hour though, the wind dropped and it was much easier. The views were amazing as we saw the sun setting over the volcano. Altogether we kayaked 12km and Sarah spent the whole of the next day finding it difficult to move.
Whilst we were here, we also went to a really delicious restaurant called el gorditos which means little fatty. Sarah had trout and Ben had a huge steak nom nom. Now we are heading to Pucon to spend Christmas there, we are currently waiting for the bus which is an hour and a half late. Stupid Latin American time. Fingers crossed it arrives.
