¡Hola, Hola, Hola!
¡Buenos dia!
If you had $3.50 what could you buy?
Well, in Ecurador, you can buy:
2 avacados, 1 red onion, 2 bananas, 1 mango, 4 apples and 4 tomatoes. Yes, you read this right. Everyday, we buy fresh fruit and vegetables because its hard not to at that price!
We had a very busy week this week in class. We are learning so much and starting to use it more and more in the streets of Montanita. Our hard work of studying everyday is starting to pay off. Yes, at times it is intimidating, but we are becoming more confident.
This weekend we found ourselves on quite the adventure with Miguel, our Spanish teacher. We took the local bus system for the first time, and that in itself is an adventure. Getting on the bus is like hailing a cab. You can get on or off anywhere you like. There are no set ¨bus stops¨ Just stick out our hand and the bus will most likely pull over.
We took an hour bus ride to San Vicente to El Baños de TSan Vicente to take a dip in the mud (lodo) baths. People were covered head to toe with thick, black, sulfurous mud. ¿PORQUE NO? So we began to cover ourselves with the slime from our pinky toe to the roots of our hair. Then, you just sit and wait. Wait 25 minutes, and your skin is similar to an alligator. Then, you wash it off, and your skin is radiating with beauty. I have never seen Justin´´s skin so darn beautiful......
After the pools, we headed to Salinas. Salinas is another coastal town about an hour and a half from Montañita. We were only going to stay about 20 minutes, but Miguel thought it would be a good idea to hire a boat and cruise around the harbor. I wish you could all meet Miguel, as he has SO much energy and is curious about everything, so a day with him is packed full to the brim.
So we take the boat for about a total of 20 minutes. 10 minutes to the other beach, a 3 minute swim in the middle of the ocean and a 7 minute trip back to the beginning.
What a great way to spend our Saturday.
Things are great! We love it here in Montañita. We just realized that we will be here for five weeks instead of four, so we get another week of Spanish!
Thank you for reading. Unitl next time...
Ciao,
Justin and Anna
P.S Have you looked at the moon lately?
P.P.S- We are having a difficult time uploading pictures. We will figure it out soon. The picture on this blog is just a generic picture I had to use from the internet. Sorry. I really hope to share pictures very soon!
