Time for Italy, people!
So I've never had any real interest in Rome. I mean, sure, they had God of War and all that, but nothing about it really blew my skirt up.
How wrong I was.
Rome contains all the charm that Paris wishes it had. The people are friendly, the buildings are beautiful and the history is rich and flavourful. While it feels like Paris is stuck a few hundred years ago and never wants to come out of its shell, Rome tends to gently remind you of how gorgeous everything is, while still accepting that this is a new time and era. Rome doesn't pretend that there isn't a world outside its walls, it welcomes you with open arms and invites you to take a look around and stay for a coffee to discuss what you've seen afterwards.
We got to Rome a little late and as we unpacked at the hostel I chatted to one of our roommates, a Californian named Leyland. We told him about playing King's Cup with the Scotts which quickly turned into a friendly game downstairs at the bar. This led to a few drinks which led to more drinks which led to beer pong (with Fosters) which led to… uh… hmm… I kinda remember walking the streets and eating pizza at some stage and chatting to random people, but that's it…
Anyways, this is a short entry, but it was a short first day in Rome.
Fun Fact: Beer pong is much harder than you'd think. Especially when you've already had the great idea to save money on drinks because happy hour is ending and you've just chugged 8 vodka-lemonades in a row…
