First full day in Australia, albeit, a familiar part having been to Sydney twice before and on both occasions stayed in Coogee.
Awake early as the change in the body clock had not quite adjusted so down to the Coogee Cafe for breakfast and the internet. Great bacon and egg sandwich.
Off on the bus to Circular Quay and a day to check what has changed or not ; more the same than changed as it turned out. Looked around downtown then to Darling Harbour. All this area was being prepared for Australia Day on Sunday for concerts and firework displays in the evening. Pity we will miss it all as we are flying to Airlie Beach on Sunday .... perhaps they will have something there. From Darling Harbour we took the ferry round to Circular Quay passing under the Harbour Bridge which we had not done before on other ferry trips.
We walked round the Rocks area by the harbour to see the people queuing up to board a massive Royal Caribbean cruise ship (one for Leilani) setting off for New Zealand. Then back up through the centre to the top of the Botanical Gardens and through to the Opera House. Gardens great but unfortunately, a lot of work going on to the area in front of the Opera House so not looking at its best. Still our timing was right for a drink at the Opera Terrace bar watching the world go by.
Bus back to Coogee and dinner at Barzuma before an early night.
