The day began with Karin wakening us up at about ten - we've slept very deep for about ten hours… Then Marie-Louise and Nina played tennis with Karin's two girls while Rebekka was cheering on the side (not looking like a ruler at all…). Then Karin drove us out to a road where you would usually find kangaroos - and when we got there, there was a herd of 30-40 kangaroos! Wauv. Nina tried to make them jump, by jumping herself and strangely they copied her. After that us three and Karin took the bus to Melbourne. Here we went to a Thai restaurant and had lunch, while looking at the Yarra river where a helicopter suddenly landed - we all hoped for some celebs to leave the helicopter, but unfortunately it was just tourists…
Then Marie-Louise wanted to go to a Klimt exhibition at National Gallery Victoria, Rebekka went to the Botanic Gardens and Nina and Karin went shopping. Unfortunately the museum was closed, the botanic gardens turned out to be too far away and Nina and Karin didn't find anything they liked - probably because the fashion in Australia is about ten years behind. But we all had a great time anyway.
We got on the train to Sydney around 8pm, and the night went slowly by while the three of us tried to sleep - not with that as much luck as we'd hoped for… But we arrived at Sydney in the morning and quickly found our hostel - where they didn't have a room ready for us, so we left our baggage and wandered towards new adventures. We discovered a playground with swings in the park opposite the hostel. We played a bit, but then found that it was getting warm and a little nap on the ground would be a good idea. No, a great idea! So we slept on the playground, soon surrounded by children, parents and dogs - but we agreed that it was one of the greatest naps we had had for a long time.
Later we went to the Chinese market which was a three decked building filled with junk, stuff, restaurants and veggies. We bought some veggies, fruit and nuts, laughed at all the strange things they tried to sell us and went to the restaurant floor and had lunch. Then we went back to the hostel, where they tried to put us in different rooms, but luckily we ended up having our own room - from which we will have to move from to another room tomorrow. We believe the counter people are a bit confused at this hostel, but as long as we get a clean bed and the possibility of showering, we'll make it. And fortunately they are very sweet.
