Dearest family, friends, partypeople.
We arrived at CPH-airport at 9 a.m. the 28th of June where Marie-Louises parents and Henrik H met us to make sure we were sent off well with lots waving and goodwill.
Qatar Airlines was swell – food was actually quite good and there were a lot of entertaining movies and games. Consider it recommened!
About ten hours later (6½ in a plane) we arrived at Doha airport, Qatar. It was hot – about 38 degrees. When we got off the plane we were at what seemed to be an indoor staircase waiting for the bus to take us to the airport. There on the step Rebekka complains: “I’m at the most warm spot” – believing that she is standing under a heater, not realizing that it is the outdoor temperature (thank G-d for air conditioning).
Very hot, exited and a bit tired we had 5 hours to spend in the airport. After eating, visiting the toilet (a few times), walking around, dancing les lanciers, buying lots of chocolates, eating (again) – we had seen about everything there was to see and do (except the gents mosque, smoking room, business class lounge and the men’s restrooms). Even though we found it very interesting to see all the different cultures and religions clashing in this airport (at one point 20 rather religious people gather around us – women in black dresses sitting on our left and men in white sitting at our right – all starring at us, not all too kind), we also found that the combination of us three girls were a bit odd for some people and they were not afraid of looking (staring in some cases) at us. Two relatively tall girls - one with long honey coloured hair and one with short brown hair – and one quite globish. People did not seem to have the ability to place us in a box – where were they from? And where were they off too?
Well, we were of cause off to Melbourne, Australia. It is going to be such an exciting trip. We are only just now beginning to realize what a dream come true this is.
You’ll hear from us asap!
