We're sitting in our small, cement room in Kuala Lumpur right now. It sounds like someone is taking a shower outside because it's raining, and has been raining constantly since one o'clock this afternoon.
Kajsa and I arrived here at 7 am after a long and uncomplicated flight. When we got to our hostel, "Central Lodge", we decided to go to China Town. The walk was longer than we expected but however, the walk there was a piece of cake compared to the walk home...
China town was big. There were apparently 3 different markets but we managed to go to the shabbiest one first. People walked up to us and followed us and tried to sell their copies of Louis Vuitton bags and DKNY perfumes. The next market we went to was nicer, and much more quiet. And then we found the nicest one. It was indoors even and the stores looked exclusive and it was there all foreigners hanged around.
On the way back to the hostel the rain started, and it only grew stronger. In the end it was so bad we couldn't see anything because our eyes where filled with salty raindrops. We were soaked long before we reached the hostel so the feeling of changing into nice and dry clothes was the best today, except the feeling of finally getting to go to bed.
Other than that we have discovered that the city is s big melting pot. There are Chinese influences right next to hindu and muslim ones. All the women wear veils and we discovered that all their face cleansers have something called "whitening" in them. Something that Kajsa and I clearly don't need.
Xoxo from the future,
Filippa & Kajsa
